I don´t like the lottery 2vs2 random has become (even more). With OKW + Ostheer Axis are decent. Get double Ostheer and especially double OKW and your chances fade. Especially with no fuel caches in team games double OKW is crippled.
The Kubel screams bad design also. OP early game but no scaling ability.
What?
The kubel has extreme scaling.
It's vet 1 ability is literally a maphack, basically the same as IR HT.
The kubelwagen is worth it purely for it's vet 1 ability. That's how you use it after the early game. You use it as a scout, and to supress the ocassional squad.
SOV / OST is generally balanced if both sides abuse everything they can to the max.
Meaning Guard motor/Shock rifle and CAS/ STUG-E
Anything else other than these two doctrines tends to give the side which picked these meta doctrines the advantage.
I consider OST to be better than USF , but just because of CAS. The matchup generally is completely dependant on maps. OST tends to be better because it's more well rounded giving ostheer an advantage as the game drags on.
USF on langres or crossing is incredibly difficult to win. However, ostheer on stalingrad/la gleize/kholodny or semois winter struggles againts USF.
OKW is just bad in 1s right now because they can't do much againts mass infantry spam. M1919 rifles or flamer rifles, or guards/PTRS cons hiding behind sandbags.
In all honesty, a 4v4 rank is nothing, really nothing to brag about. Grab a team of 4 semi decent players and stomp 85% of the games because most of the 4v4 players are low skilled players.
This is also true for 1v1s
Once you get good 90% of the games become stomps
In 4v4 99% of the games are stomps because the matchmaking doesn't work there
IS-2 is not only more durable (and a good deal more durable at that with 390 to 320 frontal armour) its also faster and firing at smaller squads with the added benefit of a better MG, making it actually easily as strong in the AI department as the Tiger.
In short, it always baffles me why you would prefer Tigers over IS-2s. No seriously, there is no objective reason to do so, I use them both all the time, and the IS-2 is tangibly stronger, not in the least because its just clearly easier to keep it alive.
The armor values are 375 for the IS-2 and 300 for the tiger btw. I don't really consider the tiger to be better, but when i'm playing ostheer and i see an IS-2/shocks i'm generally relieved because it's not guards/t-34-85s.
Side upgrades for ALL armies(weapons, additional abilities, armor, popcap reduction/mp income increase, WHATEVER to increase economy depth), especially for axis so its not YOLO into highest tier with no decision making what so ever.
I think the T-34/76 needs a cost reduction and slightly better vet. After the Panzer IV reaches vet2 there is simply no contest.
What? The t-34s gun F-34 or even F-32 was more than enough to defeat the 50mm frontal armor of the PIV and PIII.
Of course the longer KwK l/43 guns could defeat the t-34s, but until the PIV got it's 80mm hull armor upgrade, it was very valnuarable to the f-34 gun. Even after the upgrade, the turret was still valnuarable and the hull armor could be penetrated at ~500 meters with APCR. (People keep talking about how PIIIs with their 50mm gun at 500 meters with APCR, so i see no reason why t-34s couln't do this either).
Even so, there was a large number of non upgunned PIVs and a very substantial number of PIII still in service at 1942. During the summer offensive, the wehrmacht only had some ~100 available PIV with the high velocity gun. Also, the STUG III thing is completely false, considering that the STUG III with the long gun and 80mm production only started in 1942 march (that's not early 1942) and only really took off in 1942 december.
As for the armor of the t-34, one has to keep in mind that it's side armor was almost just as thick as it's front armor, meaning that the tank could be effectivelly angled at a 45 degree angle and thus increasing it's overall armor protection. Tiger I also could do the same thing due to it's strong side armor.
So for it's time, the t-34 was a perfectly adequate tank, able to fight it's competitors.
As for the other stuff...
Insufficient radios, - Somewhat true, althought most tanks did have a radio, but only a one way radio (meaning that tank crews could only listen, and not reply)
- poor vision (slits instead of a 360° cupola for the commander), (fixed on the T-34/85 for the commsander) - i believe cupola was added in the 1943 version
- poor optics, - Not really true, as far as i'm aware. Althought optics might vary from tank to tank. Hell, even the americans at aberdeen praised the t-34 for it's optics. (They were very critical of the t-34 in some other atspects)
- the commander having to fulfill several tasks, (fixed on the T-34/85) - True.
- an especially cramped interior, - This is a vast overstatement.
- depending on the version the escape hatches were insufficient, - True.
- the electric turret rotation was inaccurate (it would continue to spin a bit further and had - to be cranked on position by hand), - Never heard of this, can't comment.
- it lost too much speed while turning with the sticks, - ??? Sorry i don't understand what you mean.
- the turret lacked a baseplate, the crew had to move around in the vehicle when the turret turned. - True.
The high losses of the t-34 can be explained due to many reasons. And while it's individual performance might be one of them, it is definately not a major reason.
-Single plane
-needs a spotter
+harder to dodge (but possible)
+used against targets usually with lower health, which results more often in their destruction
you don't use it to counter at guns or infantry, in fact it's annoying when it targets infantry instead of tanks.
P47d
+ 2 planes
+ spots for itself
- rockets can miss
+ provides recon when no target is in target area
- can be easily dodged with blitzkrieg
The Stuka loiter was USELESS before it was buffed several patches ago. I don't see the reason why we need to return to this stat, giving the fact its a endgame ability for a faction that has a weak early game.
If you want to nerf the Stuka, you need to nerf the P47d aswell.
Both can be countered with AA, a fact a lot of people here seem to forget.
I don't complain about those abilities, because I actually use AA instead of whining something is OP.
The p-47 can also be easily countered because axis have much more accessible anti air. And if you are a medium tank, standing still will make most of the rockets miss. If you are a heavy tank, going forward will also make most of the rockets miss.
And why is targetting at guns or infantry a bad thing? The thing usually insta wipes absolutely everything it shoots.
