Thread: Are assault Grenadiers better than grenadiers?22 May 2014, 02:50 AM I posted a replay a while ago with a successful AGx3 and MGx2 opening; it works well in certain situations. The only issue with a AG only or my build is a sniper opening and/or Scout Cars... with the new patch, AGs are more likely to lose a model or two at range against cons, ineffective at long range against an uncloacked sniper (Grens can do some damage), and die very fast to the Scout Car (as everyone has already said). I'm interested to know, though, how can you survive without a T1 and going for 222s against Scout Cars? how do you not get owned Going back to the OP, AGs seem to be more micro-intensive, as they are most effective at close range; thus, one must navigate around cover and zigzag to minimize casualties on approach to the enemy. Grens are a better balanced unit, but the LMG42 is much less effective at CQB now. It really depends on what playstyle you and your opponent have, what BOs you're using, and how you want to use your units on the field. In: Ostheer Strategies

This was a horribly executed triple sniper to Guards opening; I lost all three snipers, built one or two more, then lost them too. My T34 ended up saving the day - twice - with a sliver of health and miraculously destroyed the P4 on both occasions. It's honestly hilarious. In: Replays

Not every mine wipe was a full health squad, but I think I lost only one gren and one pio to enemy action... I want a German mine that kills infantry squads. Thread: German abilities rarely seen9 May 2014, 04:19 AM I used to use the smoke bombs a lot. I'd often drop them on enemy tanks (because I wouldn't realize they didn't do damage; i just saw a Stuka and said... Stuka kills tank. Use Stuka) but I think arty smoke drops. A good way to fool the enemy into retreating a blob or backing up tanks. The problem is that it's only on a few (or even one?) doctrine. I think we should buy abilities rather than commanders and create our own mix, with some guidelines as to what you can put in a commander. (i.e, not all passive abilities, not all airstrikes, etc.) In: Strategy Desk

Thread: Intense 1 Hour. 1v1 4 May 2014, 17:26 PM A game I just played... and lost. It was well played by both sides, but ultimately, the game was decided by VPs. In the last 2 or 3 minutes I lost alot of my squads due to poor simultaneous micro... If someone would like to look at this and give me their opinion of what to do differently, that'd be appreciated. I think I may have been better off replacing my lost MGs, or at least keeping one late game. There's a brief ISU-152 v. Elefant match in the end... German Engineering > Soviet tractors although neither vehicle actually got destroyed... The game is a good display of the importance of combined arms (and the effectiveness of AT guns against infantry units) In: Replays
