This was pretty epic, I'd have to admit. I should've kept my rifles together more, however. But double M1919s are great at suppressing. Even Obers will hug the ground. |
I appreciate all of the replies and helpful suggestions. I'd say, the biggest thing for me is judging whether or not I will win an engagement.
As Australian Magic pointed out in the actual replay thread, he said we didn't communicate. We were on Teamspeak together but didn't talk as much as I'd like. I think it was late (around midnight) and we/I was just tired. If I would've gotten a Sherman instead of a Jackson, or if Newbie would've gotten a Katyusha and I a Jackson, things may have turned out different.
Honestly, I was expecting panthers from the Ostheer player, not stalling for a Tiger Ace... that seemed awfully silly (yet it worked).
We just didn't work together or coordinate well enough after early game, I think. |
ATTN: Relic
Had the strangest 4v4. It was almost as if my T1 building was shared with the other Ostheer player. Whenever I would build a unit, it would cancel my ally's T1 build order and vice-versa.
Also, when units were deployed, they seemed to do erratic things, as if they were being controlled by the other player. Also, there were two Grens and a sniper that, on my screen belonged to Beemer, but on his screen, they belonged to him.
Very, very strange. |
That's a mighty fine K/D ratio, Beemer! |
I want to meet some new potential cubs! Come join us on Teamspeak! |
I really feel like Relic fucked up with the way factions and call ins work in this game.
I think, ideally, every faction should have a heavy, non-doctrinal tank available from T0, after all other techs have been researched/built, just like OKW. Next, there could be various call-in medium tanks available from various doctrines that are weaker than the standard tech vehicles, yet cost less fuel. Of course, the opposite could be true, where there could be one or several weaker medium tanks in tech, and stronger medium tanks as call-ins.
My vision would be, for example, the current Panzer IV Ausf. whateverthefuckitis would stay in T3, but have a few commanders with a call-in Panzer III Ausf. J that would be cheaper than teching up and getting the P4 and come out sooner, but would be disadvantaged towards other larger medium tanks and heavy tanks. For the soviet equivalent, that would be like having the T34/85 being doctrinal and the T34/76 as a call-in.
As for the WFA armies, they are a much more difficult challenge. USF teching needs to be re-worked, period. M10 should get penetration with vet to make it viable. OKW's reliance on infantry AT as their main AT seems silly. But that's a whole different subject.
I don't know how either of those systems would work in terms of being tied to tech cost, however, if the current call-in state were to be preserved, tanks should be tied to tech cost.
But seriousely Relic, just give me a PIII. That's all I want. |
I remember reading in the novel "Brothers in Arms: The 761st Tank Battallion: World War II's Forgotten Heroes" by Kareem Abdul-Jabbar that Patton ordered all American artillery under his command to fire into the woods at a "'likely German target'" at midnight on the night of the 31st as the Third Army's salute to the Wehrmacht.
The book noted that observers reported Germans screaming for hours after the extremely brief barrage ended.
That's pretty neat.

Here's a nice game a few Bears played last night on a custom map (Monlithic Bacon's?). It was a good, well played game on all parts, however, the only issue was the American player (Choccy, I believe) couldn't access his BARs because they were phsycially outside of the map.
On my part, I did a good job keeping combined arms to repel units; two vetted MGs, two vetted Paks, and an assortment of tanks.

Napalm, are we going to use this event to bring in new, potential cubs as well? |
I'll be there! Rawr! |
