Thread: Great 1v1 OST v UKF15 Feb 2017, 08:12 AM Ostruppen doctrine v Infiltration commando. This was a great game. 45 minutes of pure carnage but the Ostruppen were the meatshield and loved being shot to pieces by the infiltration commando. Thread: Relic Winter Balance Preview v1.8 Update6 Feb 2017, 06:15 AM I just wish the final changes that Relic decides to make will overall, be beneficial to the game and will improve the game in various ways including a) balance b) player happiness with the game c) increase player count If there's a statistically significant increase in players when patches go live for a sustained period, even just two weeks, that would be great and help show Relic that people still care about their game. Some people are like "there are these other great WWII strategy games coming out" but CoH is such a unique strategy/tactical game that there isn't any single other direct competitor. Hopefully this balance change will lead to more balance changes in the future; we're going to be playing coh2 for at least another 3 years before the next coh is released (assuming DoW3 won't be bad and will make Relic money) and even if it takes them another 16 months to get the game in an objectively well balanced state it will be worth it. The people who were interested in it have had plenty of cheap chances to try it. The crowd did not stay because it's not their cup of tea. F2P will not cure this in any way. It will just depreciate the value of the game saying to the world that it's worth nothing so we will charge nothing. And we all know that can't be farther from the truth. This is probably good for newer players; i'm not sure when either of you started playing coh2 competitively but it's impossible to beat someone of equal skill when spamming grens v rifles. This is why the USF mortar in tier 0 really hurts Ostheer because, instead of smoke grenades obscuring line of sight, you have 80mm mortar rounds killing your models. Thread: What is the Source of Veterancy18 Oct 2016, 06:36 AM The source of veterancy is damage. both damage taken and damage received. You gain the most veterancy by inflicting damage. You still gain vet by taking damage but not as much, as far as I know. This is in contrast to CoH 1, where vet was awarded based on kills. Thus it was possible to have vet 0 Anti-tank guns that had fired 100 rounds int a tank, but because it didn't kill anything, no vet was awarded. I believe (this may not be true, I am sorry) that on top of the vet received from giving damage, the squad or vehicle that kills a model (an infantry model or a vehicle model) receives veterancy that corresponds 1:1 with the health of that model. So you have a 400HP tank and your PaK 40 fires a glorious round of National Socialism into that shite piece of soviet engineering. On top of the vet it gets from damaging the vehicle (let's say it's 120 damage per shot, so I think it gets 120HP per shot as well) you will get 400XP when the piece of garbage is destroyed, the number equivalent to its full HP. Sorry for any potential bias or if this is wrong. In: COH2 Gameplay
