Quite frankly has anyone stopped to ask themselves if UTT itself was a quality product to watch?
I was bored watching the games, despite who was casting. I stopped watching in the middle and played another game. ...right around the time people caught wind of this drama brewing. That certainly made me move on faster.
But hey, fight amongst yourselves over rights to viewers.
A subjective opinion about the quality of the stream is irrelevant in this current situation. Strawmen arguments like this (X wasn't a problem because Y was bad) do not serve to further the quality of debate nor reach potential solutions and a collective understanding and resolution here. |
Streaming is an important part of promoting and maintaining interest in CoH2 (and even CoH1) so many years after release. For those that do stream regularly with relatively high numbers of viewers, viewer count is important, especially so for those who are running organized events. It is also important to those who depend on viewer, subscriber, and follower counts to earn income for themselves.
If I chose to stream coh2, I most definitely wouldn't stream during an official event; I'd most likely be watching said event. If I was participating in an event, I probably wouldn't be streaming my own game either, though players are able to do that if they wish. Tournament organizers are also able to request participants that they do not stream their own games.
It has already been established that streaming another streamer's content is against Twitch's terms of service, barring the observer mode.
It would be improper etiquette, though not violating Twitch's terms of service, to stream live replays of tournament games if you have not asked the tournament organizers for explicit permission to do so. This is usually done well in advance (I believe Romeo and Dane have already been asked and announced that they will be streaming GCS2 qualifiers over the summer and it was the same case with GCS), though if there are last minute technical or scheduling conflicts I'm sure things can be organized on an ad-hoc basis.
If you're not involved with a tournament that's happening and you're playing coh2 in automatch rankings or dicking around in private games, I see no reason why you shouldn't be able to stream your own gameplay. Although, personally, I wouldn't do that (like I said I'd be watching the live stream/participating), nothing is stopping you from streaming your own gameplay.
Another thing that hasn't been tackled yet, with regards to YouTube videos, if I were to cast a tournament game and upload it directly to YouTube, I would probably ask the tournament organizers first. Out of etiquette and respect, of course, not because of Relic or .org rules.
I believe that this is a learning experience for the community and should be used as an opportunity to learn what is and is not acceptable and establish the public consensus or private resolutions as precedent for handling potential incidents in the future. We should grow out of this incident stronger and more united in our love of this game and respect for each other's hard work in gaming skill, casting skill, and the styles and conduct that streamers engage in when using their twitch accounts.
If I've said anything wrong, if someone disagrees with me, or I have omitted something, please say so. I'm not really sure what I'm trying to do here besides summarize what I've read from others, read on twitch, seen on twitch, was witness to on Sunday, and what I believe is proper etiquette. Perhaps this can form the basis of a Public Service Announcement post here on .org in the coming weeks? Perhaps that may prove to be divisive. |
Idk if this is an April Fools joke but regardless, the Panther is mostly fine. Sure there could be some tweaks but the game is going to be half of a decade old in three months so it's probably best not to worry much about it. |
Guard Rifle Combined Arms + Rifle Company vs Commanther + ??
Pretty challenging game. everyone was pretty solid in terms of skill with lots of flanking, mines, etc. Definitely worth a watch. |
I'd disagree with your assertion that USF isn't a "munition starved" faction. In fact, I'd argue that this is simply based on perceptions acquired in the game. When you're winning you're most likely going to feel like you're munition starved if you're doing everything properly, whereas when you're losing it'll feel like your opponent is lobbing grenades left and right and there's a mine in every doorway.
It's all about map control and choosing what to use your muni for. If you go for the standard 3x rifles that's 300 mu for two zooks/squad or 360 for BARs on each squad. You can also get upgrades for your REs and LT/Captain, as well as miscellaneous infantry like Assault Enginners, Rangers, etc. That's a lot to spend to make your infantry the best that it can be. In fact, the USF not having much access to mines made it easier to use and probably contributed to the proliferation of smoke grenades because there wasn't anything other than weapon upgrades and grenades to spend your munitions on... but I digress.
Basically, if your opponent is spamming WP mortar shells, they're probably not able spend as much on weapon upgrades for their infantry squads, plant mines (infantry company has mines yay!)
The Mortar HT could probably use an mp increase, maybe a 10 fuel increase to bring it in line to the Wehrmacht's SdKfz 250 Mortar HT. |
I seemed to get a lot of "lucky" wipes or multiple model kills with t34s this game.
Not really sure what's up. Is this "working as intended" and it's just a bunch of lucky RNG rolls/ my positioning paid off (in the case of flanking a green cover truck with the tank), or is there something wrong with the tank's veterancy values that...for months nobody has noticed? I did get a lot of 3-model wipes in the open and I just don't understand. |
Hey, just looking for a review here. I'm trying to get better as Soviets and I'm not really sure what's the best thing to do in terms of build orders, commanders, etc.
Some helpful tips in general and what would've been better in this particular game would be appreciated!

Oh I didn't even realize this guy was already known. This just happened maybe an hour ago. |
Don't even bother downloading the game, just check out the lovely chat history
I don't really know what's wrong with people on the internet but like, it's funny because it's just so dumb. Also, the game ended in a sync-error and I can't help but be reminded of the drophacking days of CoH when people would be salty af and do whatever they could to just get the W. |
