They are cheap and can't really hit anything plus they scale really badly. Give them stats and abilities of penals or cons. But, yes people choose them more often than not because the 6 models plus terrible stats still have enough advantages to be chosen. Osttruppen actually have some of the highest accuracy in game - they just deal low damage, but they most certainly reliably deal damage. Their scaling is as any other mainline infantry. They went through so many buffs and even got LMG upgrade for late game, that now they are very cost effective squad as long as you position yourself correctly. In: COH2 Balance

Reload time is irrelevant? Its reload time literally means it has worse AT power than an SU85, a unit that is more than 100 fuel cheaper.... Fun fact: ISU AT DPS is 24. SU-76 AT DPS is 28. Ele AT DPS is 33. In both, its average time including reload time fluctuations, wind up/down delays are same, so I disregarded them, they are negligible anyway. ISU will obviously fare better against KT and such, but might kill a P4 slower then SU-76. And we're talking about 260 fuel unit vs 70 fuel one. So I'm questioning again, there does that "excellent AT" comes from? ISU CAN be used as AT platform, but I don't think there exist a vehicle that got worse AT DPS, maybe only FF, cba to count as I'm hitting the bed now. In: COH2 Balance

The suggestions is to have the option to move SMGs troops to range 10 (in most cases) where they have the highest DPS. That's a dictionary definition of contradiction right there pal. Were you living under a rock last 2 years? There are no generalizations of units for units that are a class of its own, these are some of the most specialized units and they have to keep their identity to be functional. The balance isn't generalizing anything that doesn't have its own unit group, closest unit to ISU is KV-2 and guess what? KV-2 1-2 shoots infantry squads and ATGs from long range too and it does it more frequently(higher RoF in arty mode, lower scatter, meaning better accuracy vs inf). Units are balanced at individual basis for years now and ISU was balanced years ago, even before JT and Ele lost their 2-shoot med potential. There comes a time in game where you need to accept that 260 fuel investment is going to roll over your 240mp generalist infantry and you'll have to engage properly with panthers. I guess they had a shreck upgrade? Funny to be playing this game for almost 1100 hours and only now notice these things.. You probably can still find some penal battalions flamer bulletins too. From my experience they literally drive up to faust range before they stop moving and shoot Deacceleration, you can see this most prominently on OKW flak HT, which with a-move will start setting upwaaaay earlier then it stops, because it "stopped" already, but model was still deaccelerating. For some reason it works like that with a-move, but not with manual micro as in manually controlled vehicles response without this kind of "drifting". In: Lobby

Every vehicle with the ability to counter ATGs head-on has been nerfed fairly severely: Tiger, KT, Brummbar, Scott (sort of, with the scatter changes), Pershing, etc. What if... now sit tight.... its MEANT to counter ATGs... because you know.... it outranges them? Its a unit designed to wreck static defence from long range. Even in the current balance preview patch, the OKW Tiger lost its "Panzer Commander" upgrade for this exact reason. Outside of being limited to 1, these units have nothing in common, so using one as example of what should happen to other is void point. Leaving the ISU-152 as the sole exception, while also having it perform much, much better than any of the previously nerfed units doesn't make sense. The unit -IS- a sole exception. Like many other unique units. All the other units are either stock, much wider available, can't be killed by 1 tank or 1 AT infantry squad getting next/behind them or much more mobile, often a combination of all of the above. ISU has worst accuracy against infantry in the whole game..... Sure, it can potentially erase something in 1 hit, but why are people constantly ignoring the fact that 10 other hits will miss?
