I'm not sure its possible to add\remove vet bonnuses if unit has specific upgrade.
And stum pios with starting Kar ... welp they would need to perform like grenadiers in that case and have significant cost reduction. But giving them KaR is a bad idea, because it would make faction look like ost even more.
Make the single shreck for Sturms then also swap all the weapons for the Sturm squad to something like a Volk rifle or possibly a tad better or whatever. So if you go support package you keep all your firepower and can sweep while the schrek package makes Sturms a further support unit that won't be able to clear weapon teams or chase away troops closing in without support.
I don't think one shreck and 3 stg44s would be a good idea, but that's me. It was taken off PGs for a reason, even though their StGs are better.
Can't say its similar to Ostheer as their schreks are on a heavy combat engineer unit which also gets a swap to long-range rifles versus the Ostheer who is more of a dedicated AT unit with semi-decent mid0short range power with little utility. |
Why would I even build an Elefant any longer? That unit is designed to be caught with its pants down. Now with incredibly thin side armor.
You build an Elephant to two hit medium tanks, create a giant anti-tank no go zone, as well as be a hardcounter to other heavy tanks like the IS-2. The heavy TDs were always weak to mass mediums due to their long reloads. It's why you have other AT units nearby.
Rear armour is your last line of defense, not the first. Furthermore you still have a 1040 hp pool which means you can take seven hits before exploding. |
Comet should get its rear amor nerfed to 100, in fact only KV series should keep their rear protection (which is an out-dated design)
BTW, have you ever consider giving soviet a REAL tier4 tank aka make T-34/85 a stock unit while make a scaled downed t-34/76 back to tier 3? Soviet T4 is quite expensive(and even more expensive with cons' side upgrades) , T-34/76 is outmachted when it's came out, and flanking is equally if not more suicidal since panzerfaust available to volks now
With a buffed SU-85 and T-34/76 buffs I think it would be enough. Sure the T-34 is not the greatest tank, but it means you can field a cheaper tank screen which does decently at warding off infantry and vehicles while also being a risk to other mediums up close or via flanking. SU-85 meanwhile deals with the heaviest of tanks so as long as it can be screened. More tank combined arms that way. |
As well as Churchills and Pershings. The IS-2 may have been nerfed, but it still has more rear armor than any German vehicle (Even KT and Jagdtiger?). It was just a big, unnecessary nerf to Germans. Your punishment for being flanked is already hard-coded into the game, so it doesn't make sense to enhance the effect.
Edit: Churchills and Comets have more rear armor than the KT and Jagdtiger- this is a problem.
Well, there's hitting the IS-2 with another rear armour nerf along with the Allied heavies that were unaffected. Pershing, if I remember correctly has the rear armour of a Panther at 110 and doesn't have the 1040+ health pool other heavies have in exchange for speed. |
Since release German tanks have been pretty much nerfed constantly with the nerf stick. I thought we had reached the ultimate low. But Relic never ceases to amaze me.
Ostheer used to be about good tanks to compensate for their small squads and general fragility. Now we ended up with Panthers hardly being able to knock out Cromwells.
They continue with their famous nerf one thing + buff the counters attitude that failed so hard the last times. This time SU-85 and Firefly get a buff + German heavies get nerfed.
If you reduce the rear armor of German heavies please consider giving them something else. More HP or more frontal armor.

IS-2 rear armour nerf? Not sure why Comet's didn't follow with their rear armour of 180, but I don't get this rear armour nerf complaint. You should be puinshed if you're heavy tank is outflanked.
The mediums flanking already need to expose themselves to the rear-line AT that should be supporting the heavy. |
If one of the concerns is not being able to use certain abilities while off-map, turn off the requirement flag and then test to see if it breaks anything. Done, can tell unit to repair while they are off-map. |

Better fire on the move with G43s as there is no burst to limit*even if cooldown also gets lowered for AR/SMGs), better LOS with the upgrade, six man-squad, more damage output with the three G43s vs two StG, the fact they are still 6 pop-cap vs a Volk's 7, superior survivability by end-game via veterancy, relatively same damage output stock thanks to the sixth man and you even get para-flares with vet. Toss between self-healing and perma sprint. Their offensive vet are also nearly on par with each other. Volks do have more cooldown bonuses, but they also die faster. |
Not like you have to fire the smoke nade at the gunner, its enough if you put it a few meters before the mg itself which is quite possible even under fire.
Yes, but it means there's still less smoke along the approach to the MG if he's smoking at range 30 rather than range 15-20 you have much more time to prepare units for the assault through the smoke and you'll get sight of them much sooner. It also means your opponent has much less sight as he had to the toss the smoke much closer to himself versus his opponent. |

Were they charging into cons? Volks have terrible RA bonuses which might be changed.They aren't assault infantry. If vs Cons and eary USF, let them come to you.
The StG by mid-late game is support DPS against mid-short range Allied infantry while Volks provide faust support. Volks by mid-late should be supplemented by MGs from the HQ, call-ins, or Obers.
Also, Raketens are near levels of other ATGs in my mod. I didn't think they should keep the cloak gimmick stock. It has the same accuracy as other ATGs and has a rate of fire on par with the 6pdr. I'll attempt to do so more spacing changes and redjust price.
As for possible AT rifles, I'll think about it or give Sturms shrecks so Volks aren't the solution to everything early game. But we'll have to see.

Anyways, any possibility of re-integrating the Panzershrek into Competitive Edition Mod via side tech? If you are concerned that Volk StGs might be too strong in early game it could be a good idea to lock it behind side tech as well (timing adjustment).
I'm not on my main computer but I think the DPS was around 1-2 points higher than the PF G43 at 10 - 25 meters. Note the direct comparison is more difficult as Volks fire in burst so their damage varies depending how many rounds roll the rng dice versus the single shot G43 which is more accurate and bursty but those misses are more noticeable.
And before people say it would make G43 PF worthless, PF still have higher survivability, better fire on the move capabilities, better LOS, and offensive veterancy near on par with Volks while have better received accuracy modifers when vetted. Toss up between self-healing and perma-sprint. I think they also have one more G43 over the Volk StG, though I can't remember exactly over the top of my head. Of course I don't know what sort of StG the Volks will get in the preview.
Not sure on side-tech for OKW when they already have the cost for the truck upgrades, though I might experiment with cost adjustment or changing the type of resources required. Munitions could make for an interesting dynamic of going for healing or making that StG timing push. |
