I disagree with that. Why should the elite troop doctrine not have access to cutting edge infantry weaponry?
For me I would think that Storm troops wouldn't be lugging around massive heavy battery packs and clumsy fragile large IR STGs. They seems more defensive weapons. |
Cons are not the problem here.
The real problem is the combo T70 + Penal + T34/85 or IS2 + ZIS3 + SU85.
Sovs have no holes.
Combined arms has no holes, thats the point of combined arms. Use combined arms yourself and out-micro and out-strategize your enemies. |
Mainly it comes down to 7men cons (and to a lesser degree svts) being stupidly made and balanced. it turns average infantry into gods which you can never really truly out trade. I mean when it comes down to it. 7men cons can arrive at 10-15 min, which is relativly quickly considering the benefits. and it makes them stupidly effecient and allows for braindead play because they win almost all engagements. Spamming sandbags+7men is pretty much straight up unbeatable with just infantry.
As opposed to any other infantry squad behind green cover? Good luck clearing volks from green cover cost effectively with just infantry. |
This post highlights the problem with Sov.
They have a solution for everything at any phase of the game. Doctrine plays a part now that their stock units are so good.
Tiger does not counter SU85 sorry. 60TD needs to drop some range then we say.
IS2 instead counters everything Wehr have, maybe except Elefant...
Wehr doesn't have an answer to everything at every stage of the game? |
I don't think its a good idea to buff Panther's penetration to counter ONE DOCTRINE unit, not to mention the implication it would have vs USF and Brits.
Also, not everyone picks IS-2 every game!
USF and UKF don't really have anything that is impacted by a Panther with higher Penetration. And indeed not everyone uses IS-2 every match, but are we suggesting that a Soviets are OP even when using a doctrine like Partisan Tactics? |
Buff Panther main gun penetration so it's better against the IS-2 without becomming impossible to deal with in team games. Decrease IS-2 vet bonus range to 45 instead of 50.
There we go, easy fix. Now axis has a counter to the IS-2. No need to nerf a faction into oblivion because 1 doctrinal unit is too good. |
And since the Ostheer is the best designed faction and the one that should be used as "benchmark" it is the rest of the faction that are op and should be nerfed. PLS no more power creep.
Easier to buff 1 faction than to nerf 4. |
Unlike with Ostheer, Soviets only have few doctrines with heavy tanks. So if these lategame units are too strong, nerfs should be aimed at them, not the main roster of the faction, since otherwise you will also be nerfing Soviets when they use a commander like Partisan Tactics.
My suggestion to adress the Soviet problem would be to buff the counter to allied heavies: the Panther. Nobody builds panthers, even when up against IS2s. So I would suggest to buff the Penetration of the Panther to more reliably pen the IS-2. If that is not enough, I would also decrease the Vet2 range buff that the IS-2 gets, to give the panter more room to fight the IS-2. |
Exactly, su76s simply have no role right now. Nerf pen and damage and give them free barrage with global cooldown and the unit will be useful again.
... So your idea to make the SU76 usefull is to nerf its damage and pen for no reason, and remove the option of making 2 of them at the same time? Yeah nobody is going to use a su76 if that happens. |
Why would you TWP an enemy SU85 when he is at 160HP? Only you can fix your own micro errors. |
