The Puma has 160 penetration, 120 damage, 50 range and is basically a more flexible version of the Marder III in practice. (paper armor, good penetration)
The Jagdpanzer IV L/70 (German SU-85) is much better than the Hetzer, Marder, or Stug III/IV. |
I suspect that the core Anti-tank AFV for OKW mid game is the Puma. |
^^
The biggest issue is map design. I think the Coh2 maps are smaller and more cluttered than the ones in vcoh. There is less space to maneuver in coh2. |

Maybe, like PE.. the Panzer IV short is non-doctrinal, and the Panzer IV long is doctrinal?

If you re-watch the trailer, it offers hints.
PE was based on fast & lightly armored AFV early to mid game (and then heavy armor late game), and I think the new OKW bears some similarities. The video shows halftracks of different types and also the Luchs/Puma.
So in the mid Game, the PE would not have proper medium armor against Shermans/TDs and instead relied on Marder III/Panzer IV short (or call-in Hetzers from TD doctrine).
PE did not have the panzer IV long, either. If I were to wager a guess, I'd say that Panzer IV is a doctrinal call-in for those people who want to 'even out the faction' during mid game. |
Is the Panzer IV doctrinal or non-doctrinal? Somehow I doubt it's going to be a core AFV for the Axis again. |

maybe 1 BAR and 1 Bazooka each? This reminds me of Guards Rifle, except the bazookas are better against tanks. |

Even if the limit is just 2... getting 1-2 bazookas for all veteran infantry, rear echelon, etc. is pretty radical.

Out of the essential core non doc abilities, the US appears to be missing:
1. mobile AT guns
2. Snipers
This is just like PE/CW from OF.
I dont' know yet, but it seems to me that the US squads can carry more than one purchase. I saw Psquieh buy two BARs for one squad in the twitch.
The same may apply to bazookas (60 muni each)- so squads may have more than one bazooka and maybe even a mix of munitions cache weapons.
I think US forces early/mid game will be 'bazooka'ed' up the wahzoo.. |
^^
The US has 30 cal. machineguns for 60 munitions at the weapons locker....I suspect that they are between maxims and Mg42s.
There is also the 50 cal. MG for the airborne.
The OKW/US have heavier weapons: manhandled pack 75mm howie/75mm infantry gun instead of mortars.
The Pathfinders are the US version of the sniper.
I don't think I saw any 57mm AT guns outside of the Airborne doctrine's paradrop AT- kind of like British in vcoh who had no moveable AT guns. |
