If you use the flares. not only is it better than a recon run but it lasts quite a while and it allows your sexton to dish out some accurate fire thanks to the vision. The valentine is basically an 80 fuel sight track that can defend itself and the sexton. Think about it. it has smoke to defend your sexton if you get rushed. the wallhack lets you see where his troops are worth bombing and the vet 1 ability lets you override the cooldown on sexton. The 100 muni arty is amazing for the simple reason that you can call it down through the fog of war. The only thing that's meh is the 12 cp sector arty to be honest. This doctrine works best vs okw and going for comets with piats on sappers. piats are awesome btw. Tl;dr sexton is pretty good with the doctrine's perks. OP munis and have fun. I agree with you on performance, but by the time I'm even able to build a valentine I could have a cromwell instead. It's really hard to justify investing in a valentine + sexton combo at that stage of the game. In: COH2 Balance

Sure, he saves a bit of manpower but he doesn't get the m4c sherman any quicker and he has much less tactical options available to him. Build a pair of stug's or a jagdpanzer or two and suddenly his epic strategy falls flat on its face with no back up plan. I see a lot of players do this with the Stug E doctrine and this one, and I rarely see it work out well for them against an opponent who techs normally and builds sufficient AT. In: COH2 Balance

I've killed dozens of m3a1's and m20's by doing that. People get greedy when they see a kubel at 50% hp and will chase you wherever you want. Free salvage + making them waste 15 fuel is well worth the cost of the kubel and mine. In: OKW Strategies

Weapon racks and squad size can be skipped till after fielding your first tank. There's no point on getting the nade package (it should be fuse with Squad size or add a AT nade or something). Hammer and Anvil are late game upgrades and can be considered T4 for UKF. Bofor/AeC are mostly a joke. The better German players get, the more important those fuel sink upgrades and units become. German makes extensive use of garrisons? How do you suppose you deal with that without grenades or a flame universal carrier? German gets a halftrack to reinforce through shotblockers in the field. How do you suppose you kill it without PIATS or AEC? Rushing straight for a vehicle also makes you vulnerable to being countered. Rushing a centaur but your opponent has put teller mines all over and has a stug waiting for it? Centaur is unlikely to accomplish much. I've played relic RTS for years and this is how it always goes. The equivalent to "Not build shit and wait for heavy tank" in DOW2 was "tech t3 and save up for avatar" and it was super easy to not only field a bigger army of cheaper units but also counter their heavy unit with plentiful AT sources. The same is true here. Any sort of vehicle rush leaves you wide open to aggressive mid game play, with no guarantee said vehicle will accomplish anything. Fast teching works when your opponent is equally fast teching. Which is very common in coh2 right now. But in a more aggressive meta such strategies become very weak, and investing in other things becomes more useful. In: COH2 Balance
Thread: Current balance opinions?13 Nov 2015, 05:17 AM I think things are pretty balanced. The problems that bug me are design choices more than anything. My main gripes right now are how expensive specific grenades are to use. (Specifically the extremely expensive pgren bundled nades, non-commando gammon bombs and guard rifles grenade) I also have a huge beef with the homogenization of mines. Ostheer is the only faction with any sort of diversity and it is absolutely killing me. Soviets have a few doctrinal things and their vet 1 mines but OKW, USF and Brits are all ZZZ copy paste the same thing. It's lazy and boring. I could also bitch about the game pacing for hours but the train sailed long ago on that one. In: Lobby

P'us stug callins are not limited T2 is pretty solid and provides a lot of useful AT options, but if your opponent goes heavy on light/med vehicles to capitalize on it you will not be winning many fights before your superunit pops out. 'Course it comes down to individual micro. But I'll sooner bet on the guy with double t70's and an su76 backed up by an appropriate amount of infantry than the guy who is hoping a pak40 or two will carry him to a Tiger. In general the guy with more stuff on the field has a bigger advantage than the guy sitting on all his resources waiting to call in a bigger unit. The better people get at the game, the better they are able to punish these sorts of strategies with aggressive play. (And the better they are at immediately countering the heavy tank call in) In: COH2 Gameplay
