It's always been a tad strange to me when threads like these surface. Don't take this wrong, but I will be frank and say it leads me to want to question OP's intent.
Is the answer that hard to figure out? It's a competitive game, and it requires a lot of focus. Of course people get invested and end up being emotional, which can often players getting frustrated with each other.
Why ask this in a thread? Are you assuming everyone here are the source of the toxicity? Do you think people would change because they saw this call out? If anything, this thread would achieve more in spreading negativity to those on here, as the most they'd pick up out of this would be implication that toxicity is a norm on here.
It's a game. People come to the game to throw out their negative feelings here and not on the people who are next to him, or relax, there are people who enjoy the negative and start writing nonsense so that people would start writing nonsense in response. As you pointed out, this is a competitive game and people want to win, so they start showing emotion when something goes wrong or as they think it is. I think the most correct thing is to ignore the chat, it would also be nice to be able to turn off the chat.
New modding tools are not only a support issue, but also reputation issue. After CoH2 single company, many people turned backs on Relic and Relic and did not try to fix the situation. Further bad DoW3 and again there is no desire to improve the situation, the game was closed after a year and also did not receive modding tools for those few people who at least somehow wanted to fix and make the game better. I am extremely wary of future games from Relic, the studio quickly exhausted its reputational stock and if Relic publishes games in the future I will study it under a microscope and be more picky. And Relic should now take steps to improve its reputation. And modding tools for CoH2 would be a great step - CoH2 has a large fan base and opportunities for development.
Ram is not the vet 1 ability, ram is a "bonus" ability.
Cap is the vet 1 ability and as I have said plenty of times it should be changed (and that goes for the majority of EFA units, actually I have been pointing out that veterancy overhaul is need desperately needed for more than 5 years now).
I know perfectly well that the capture of the territory: the 1st level of vet. which a long time ago a couple replaced since it is useless.
- acceleration as a new 1st level of vet
- fragmentation-smoke shell as an additional ability to escape and support
this will improve the role of the T-34 as a flanking tank in the game, and not on the paper that it currently has.
A) Return to the original intended design of using it as a last resort tool of getting more out of doomed vehicle.
B) Keep the current cheese "Ram+off map combo" design but make it doctrinal. Then once can better design both ram and the off map and thus better design the combo.
Or finally give him abilities that correspond to the main mechanics of the game - saving units.
- give acceleration at the 1st level of vet, like a blitz so that it would be a real flanking tank
- give a fragmentation-smoke shell to increase survival during a retreat after a flank attack.
What about i said earlier - Ram not Last resort tool. Just imagine if for ram T-34 must have 25% or below health, would be it last resort ability -yes. Would be usefull - not, very tight restrictions for usage. I completely understand initial logic and design when game started. In those days t-34 used only for ramming and crushing enemy infantry. It could be build in horde of 5-6 tanks due low pop-cap and low cost, especially with windustry doctrine. Now it was bring close to normall unit. And it should also get rid off this legacy of "good, old days".
Last resort abilities for game that from every corner cry to you "You MUST keep you units alive, don't throw them away", just mistake. There is no any unit in game that have similar ability (penals passive, more defensive than offensive) and there is no make sense keep this rudiment alive. I don't think if Ram and cap point were removed from T-34 SU lost their potential to fight against axis armor. Oldschool docs like guard motor, shock rifle always works. Su-85 still good. ISU-152 still good. T-85 still good. Even Lendlease sherman is good with HVAP rounds.
I agree, ram + ML-20 was the only countermeasure for the Elephant at the start of the game, it was fixed a long time ago and there is no real need for a ram if you want to slow down the tank for this there are mines or AT grenades, this works well. The T-34 is now not needed in the game as a tank, it is an expensive suicide ability right now. I want to change the kamikaze ability for utility to the level of Sherman and Cromwell.
I am for removing RAM and changing 1st vet. I personally do not need kamikaze ability in the game one of the main mechanics of which is to obtain maximum veteranism and save the unit for as long as possible. At the moment, for the T-34 there is no place in the game except suicide + airborne commander. He needs the ability to accelerate at the 1st level of vet to compensate for the worst penetration, and perhaps some kind of special projectile: HEAT, sub-caliber, buckshot / shrapnel, fragmentation-smoke. Perhaps even with an increase in cost, at least the T-34 should be at the same utility / availability level with the M4 Sherman and Cromwell. Cheap T-34 is not a strong point, it only shows its sloppy performance.
I look at the T-34 changes and think - what's the point? The T-34 is currently only useful for one role as being a suicide along with an Airborne Commander. And they reduce his role without giving anything in return, if people are so worried about ramming - remove him and finally make the T-34 useful.
