I found a very interesting picture: Soldier of the 12th Battalion Devonshire Regiment (part of the glider, which was part of the 6th Brigade of the 6th Airborne Division) in the center wearing in a body armor
Armor protection for the torso was adopted in 1942. This body armor was not widespread, although it provided good protection. Similar bulletproof vests were received by some soldiers of the 1st Airborne Division who participated in Operation "Market Garden" in the Netherlands in September 1944.
But other information I have not found, someone has more info?
