Why on earth does a tech building have to counter everything in your books?
OKW already gets free anti-air with their base flaks, has the flak ht, doctrinal ostwind, Panther, KT and PIV MGs...how much more do they need?

The su-76 has always had issues. Especially since the change that made it quite a lot more expensive, removing the one effective tactic that it used to have of being massed in large numbers relatively cheaply. Now that the Katyusha has been (over?)buffed, the su-76 remains the only non-doctrinal vehicle for the soviets that clearly underperforms for cost. This is arguably a better situation than the one for Ostheer where all 3 vehicles in T4 are rather lackluster. In: COH2 Gameplay |

T4 doesn't need a teching cost decrease. Last I checked the game does not grey out soviet tech buildings when the alternative tier is built. 360/90 fuel for wehr to get T4 with its assortment of rather underperforming units is "fine", but soviets having to pay 240/120 is completely impossible to deal with, apparently. While I won't disagree that CP gain is still too fast and that waiting for call-ins is still a somewhat dominant strat, saying that you have CPs by the time you build T3/T4 is just hyperbole. No matter the match you are likely to get 2 vehicles minimum out of them before you hit the CPs where you can call in.
Wehr tech cost to T3 + Stug: 200/45+200/55+80/10+160/25+230/80 = 870/215 (You probably want to add in 120/15 for T2 in almost all cases, but lets pretend you're just rushing StuG) Soviet tech cost to T4 + SU-76 160/40 (or 200/50) + 240/120+240/70 = 640/230 EDIT: Fixing my super math.
While it would certainly solve issues with non-tank call-in commander viability, the balance issue problems are just too massive for this to ever happen short of a complete redesign of all units mentioned and soviet commander ability selection. In: COH2 Gameplay |
