A Panther is 490 / 175 while 2 T-34/76's are 620 / 200, and even then they'll only beat the Panther if it is handled exceptionally badly, or they have Mark Target. Now, they nerf it even more, and for what? Because the minor buff in the past was unplanned?
They say they're concerned about the call-in meta, but their actions do just the opposite. Why buy a 620 health 120 pen T-34/76 when you could hold out for an 800 health 160 pen T-34/85?
Because the Panzer IV compared to the T-34/76 has superior penetration over range, armour, accuracy, veterancy, and anti-infantry. In fact way better veterancy and immensely superior anti-infantry. Now it has better reload too.
It wasn't hard to kill a panther with 2 t34/76s actually, and yes, that's my point exactly, the issue here lies with the fact that call ins are waaaaay more cost effective. |
If the cache prevents the disconnecting stuka strike, it might be somewhat reasonable... doesn't stop recon + normal stuka on the cache + stuka disconnect, then activating the nuclear bombardment, but it's better than one player being able to totally destroy an entire team of four singlehandedly.
Justifying a ridiculous ability by stating that under all circumstances you should have your cutoff protected is just silly. The entire doctrine is based around decapping/denying territory, and we're not talking about the soviets here. The Ostheer can stand alone regardless of doctrine choice, so it's not like this is a cheese strat that relies solely on executing these cutoffs for success. For 200 munis this ability will auto target all enemy units in cutoff territories regardless of LOS? Am I correct on that? If that's the case then this arty outperforms every single arty in the game, no questions asked. |

2 T34/76s beat a panther easily in the previous patch, which may be warranted considering their cost.
IMO the biggest thing holding them back is their prohibitive tech cost which has more to do with the call in structure than the unit itself. IMO the t34/76 is plenty strong on its own, its just cost ineffective to build due to the fuel cost of t3. The risk/reward for waiting for call ins is a no brainier atm. You sacrifice basically nothing in opportunity cost, and gain the fuel saved from teching and stronger vehicles once you hit the CPs.
I feel like this patch is preparation for bigger things down the line regarding tech/call in structure, but this is all speculation. The T34/76 is fine as it is, but the 120 fuel to tech to it doesn't really pay off when a few minutes later the 85s or the Kv8/is2/KV1 are ready. |
Meh im over this game. Watch the exodus of players after this latest patch. I may speed up this exodus by abusing sniper and Maxim vs axis players
Please do! Maybe you'll get to an ELO high enough to teach you how to counter them! |
Just build a cache on a cut off to protect it.
Lol seriously? That's just about as bad as the shocks in an m3 comment. |
I'm hoping this is just laying the foundation for more defined infantry roles, and that larger changes regarding teching cost for the Soviets and Ostheer are addressed later.
Still though, gotta love the rageposts. |
Gotta love the sweeping reactions from everyone before any games are played XD |
He costs 90MP to reinforce. I'd say that's a penalty.
Still sooooo much more worth it than losing the squad itself. |
Relic is splitting their limited resources between the single player fan base, and getting the game to an acceptable level of esports quality. There is still a HUGE list of bugs plaguing the game (hah), many players are still experiencing unexplained game freezes. Promoting COH2 as an esport is a huge opportunity for Relic, IF they don't blow it. |
sadly, sniper spam is the only competitive strat soviets have.
This really isn't true, penals have been seeing good use in the meta recently, and to be honest everyone saying that they don't scale just isn't paying attention. |
