Thread: RIP German Infantry?28 Feb 2021, 20:32 PM Hey fellow Ostheer players, Was it really necessary? German infantry was my favourite commander. Love infantry in general, liked to fool around with the halftrack in early game, 5 man pioneer squads with flamethrower etc. However, with the recent nerf, the back bone of the doctrine, 5 men grens with G43, now just feels inferior to the MG42. Squad Leader bonus nerfed, and the StG44 feels completely wrong on Grens, they are not a unit that is supposed to assault. What is this text even supposed to mean?: "Veteran Squad Leader upgrade is also being adjusted to make the squad less potent, rather than a straight improvement over the LMG 42 upgrade." I mean come on, it's a commander that is dedicated to infantry, of course it needs to be an improvement over the LMG? What is the point of the commander now? This is not supposed to be rant, I am just kinda sad for my boys Press F. I know there hasn't been alot of time for testing yet, but do you think there is any use for this commander now? Thread: Axis armor bounce a little to often9 Oct 2019, 11:14 AM Just yesterday i had a match where a comet bounced 2 or 3 shots in a row from my tiger! And my tiger got penetrated by every hit and i had to move him out after 3 seconds everytime. I don't feel like Axis tanks bounce more... In: COH2 Balance
Thread: What's with all the hype about PGs+G435 Oct 2019, 20:32 PM Cheers. I do use the build orders you suggested, both of them depending on the map and how I feel about the very first encounters. Sometimes I go MG-Gren-Gren-Mortar if the opponent is using MGs alot. I play both 1on1 and teamgame, is the PGren strat also viable in team games? In theory your mates could help you out during the slow early game, but alot of 2v2 or 3v3 just turn out to be separated 1v1s, at least in the early. In team games I also don't really like Jäger Inf or Elite Troops. I mostly use Spearhead or Festung Support there. In: Ostheer Strategies
Thread: Effective use of assault grens for a T2 rush5 Oct 2019, 12:13 PM I can't really make assault grens work. I just feel they eat wa too much lead until they can close the distance. Even when I can make a squad retreat, I do have to retreat shortly after. And in the late game they kinda suck. For me, they work well when they're close to the MG, because they can destroy flanking enemies. I am also torn on whether I should get 2 or 3 squads. In: Ostheer Strategies
Thread: What's with all the hype about PGs+G435 Oct 2019, 12:05 PM I watched some streams lately and on twitch everyone seems to be going crazy about rushing Tier 2 and get PGs + G43. Mostly along with Jäger Inf + Jäger Command Squad. The strat is to build 2 Pio and MGs on Tier1, tech and get PGs out. I have played this strat a little bit but I don't really like it. I miss my grens early game because without them capping is so slow and I don't have a faust. I miss them lategame because they are great with LMGs. Grens also gain Vet faster and are to a certain extend expandable. And when things go south, PGrens can be wiped just as fast and they are so expensive. I do like keeping 1-2 PGren Squads around, but as a main infantry I am just not feeling them. What are your thoughts? P.S: Why are these strategy forums so dead? :/ In: Ostheer Strategies
