I am a German player and I find absolutely nothing wrong with HtD. Its so vunerable to tanks, flames, and nades. If you see somebody hit the dirt GET BACK and fire rifle nades and throw bundled nades into those "Russian Assholes". I will say when the cons have veterancy and they hit the hit near some PzGrens with no vet, they get absolutely SHREDDED!!! But remember germans, the HtD doctrine has no OP (fire across the entire map or flame entire squads in .56 millisecond) tanks. I prefer somebody going that doctrine, at least it gives me a fighting chance. |
In a 1v1 game the Tiger Commander seems fine. But I will say from all the posts that in larger games it may be OP. I did not know you could get more than one OPEL BLitz in a sector. What exactly are the benefits anyway? Whats the munitions/fuel variables when 1 opel blitz is on a point? Remember in a 1v1 its extremely fragile and can be easily destroyed. Its the only commander I use nowadays.
How is the strafe OP?? Don't zerg rush and bunch up your units like idiots and you wont have a problem. The strafing run never seems to even kill anyway, it just pins everyone. I had a game recently with a skilled player who lined up ALL his units just perfectly and the strafing run did its job and pinned them. It came around twice but still only got maybe 1 or 2 guys. If anything make the damn thing stronger!! (maybe less time strafing) Maybe the Ruskies need to learn to get some Anti-Air. Don't let the germans have the skies!!

I cant speak for soviets but everytime i finally get the tiger tank out the match is over!!! ugh... 260 fuel.. damn. But just last match i got a tiger out and immediately lost it. It was the stupidest thing ever. I finally get a match where the tiger could do some real dmg and then i lost it following a stupiD SU tank destroyer into base.. lol.. dumb me. |
Whaaaat!? Werfer is a game changer if soviets have mid map control. Usually if I am losing and have decent t3 tanks up ill grab a werfer to scare off the soviet mgs and ats from their well dug in defenses. Then my attack comes and somtimes I win somtimes I lose, but at least he either lost a victory point or his mid defense positions |
Honestly, that review felt pretty decent. New reviewers will come out with better scores, but an 80 seems to be a very fair score for CoH 2. |
A pak of gum. Hah!! |
Ill have to disagree with first point. Grenadiers need a bit of micro, but they ultimately defeat conscript squads 100%... In most of my games ill get 2-3 grens squad (depending on the opponent and if he is going cons spam) an mg and sometimes a sniper. If he does go quick clown car grens can faust it.. the clown car does take dmg from small arms fire but I will agree sometimes its hard to counter when its up to quick. You just MUST deny soviets any fuel while trying to protect your munitions.. its a desperate battle and I love it.
The soviet support teams are so upsetting. Its impossible to flank early. The rifle nade rarely does dmg and on certain occasions ive seen it do NO damage. If somehow you manage to kill a maxim or mortar you cant recrew since you most likely took dmg from reinforcng conscripts because it took 4mins at point blank range to kill that support team. German sniper need 5 shots... 5....to finish a support team off... so.... I mean....
Ostwind needs micro, you just got to use it on the periphery of the battle. It does wonders if you manage to keep it alive a while after it first comes out. Send it on flanking attacks and to harass sovs capping vps. Its really no good on the frontline since soviet ats and at nades and mortars...t34s.. SUs...etc will most likely destroy it. Same goes for flammenwerfer if you miraculously manage to keep it alive mid\late game.
Pak40.. yes... useless...
Germans just plain and simple need better commanders. Soviets can call in guards, shock troops, 2 t34s, and the LOLWIN kv-8. The germans can call in. Er... an elephant? (Not much good in 1v1) and a tiger. But as another poster said the soviets can then ram the tiger (or acme smash with wylie coyote) taking it out for a good period or destroying it if at guns are brought up. The ran ability is so cheesy in my opinion, kind of like many of the features in this game... but ram instantly destroying a turret AND engine!?!?!?! Make the damage congruent with the area rammed!!! Front=gun damaged...Side=tracks damaged or heavy damage to german tank... back=damaged\destroyed engine and damage to tank... At least give the rammed bastard a fighting chance..
|
Just nerf kv-8 and im fine... everything else is managable. Su-76 range is ridiculous though also.. but I feel its more on the bigger maps I see those units and biggger maps seem to favor soviets (from my experience).. I wreck soviets on smaller maps but I get wrecked on larger maps. |
I do understand where pingping is coming from. Especially with the doctrines and such. Its hard not to compare a sequel to the success of its predecessor. And to me vcoh was amazing even when it was imbalanced and a little screwy. I just knew playing vcoh how much potential it had, even when I played open beta. I feel somewhat the same for coh2 but I feel the basic success of vcoh did not carry over. To use fortunes car examples.... when new models come out they arent complete overhauls of what made the original design great. They are improvements to the original car while still keeping the core concepts of what the original design... anyway ill still buy coh2.. just not right away.. the unlocks and commanders etc feels so cheesy. Almost like a free to play game lol. But thats just me throwng in my 2 cents. |
Company of heroes was "hugely popular". Maybe not in terms of SC2 but then again vCOH was completely different and groundbreaking.
To me, it just seems CoH 2 doesn't have the replay-ability... The new features aren't "new" enough and the old formula (which made vCoH amazing) just isn't there... I played vCoH beta aND I NEVER wanted to stop. In the open beta in CoH2 I am already tired of it. It makes me sad. |
