If this is caused by a hack (which it's not) it would be one of the worst hacks in the world... Let's break it down...
Firstly, the attacker would need to either MitM you or be able to spoof commands coming from your machine, the second would be exponentially easier to accomplish so let's just assume that this is how it is done.
Next, the attacker would need some way to issue spoofed commands. Maybe he wrote some custom code and gave himself a weird little GUI to order your units to weird spots on the map or to order retreats. I guess they could also be issued completely randomly...
Anyways, our actor in this scenario is going through a whole lot of effort in order to create an extremely obvious hack, which does not net him that much of an advantage... (and no monetary gain). There's simply no incentive to create a hack like this... and it'd be annoyingly difficult to pull off as compared to a map hack.
Furthermore - with the abundance of people that have reported this, it is pretty solid proof that this is not created by a hack. And there were reports of it in vCoH. Just doesn't add up at all.
Can't be anything except for a bug. And probably a bug related to poor connections in some way since it seems to have only ever happened in team games (and most frequently in larger game sizes).

Thread: m36-Jackson is over performing24 Apr 2015, 19:31 PM
Funny that last patch I was telling everyone that the Jackson was an amazing tank. Everyone said it was too squishy. Now, with absolutely zero changes to its survivability, and a nerf against medium armor, with a slight buff against heavy armor everyone is saying how good the Jackson is... Seems legit. I guess kind of like five months ago when I was telling everyone how OP the is2 was and everyone was telling me I was stupid and that the tiger was way stronger. Yeah, we see how that turned out. On topic: the Jackson is fine and balanced for the most part. Maybe like a 5 fuel increase or a slight nerf to hvap to make it not 240 damage per shot. In: COH2 Balance |
Thread: PSA about UKF alpha23 Apr 2015, 14:19 PM
I have the press version, BRB downloading it x) 4 COH2 versions (normal, beta, closed "old" alpha and press) and a 5th one incoming with the new alpha. 100GB just for COH2 I'm in the same boat but I don't think there's any reason to keep most of the old versions around. I don't think Relic is using them for anything, except kinda sorta the closed balance alpha but even that isn't what it used to be. Ah well I guess that's what a 2 tb hdd is for. Probably still need to uninstall a bunch of old stuff like that though soon. In: Lobby |
Thread: Can we talk about OMGPOP! in the SCK Cup?23 Apr 2015, 12:47 PM
Yeah and I'm paying for the best internet my ISP says they can give me where I live and I only get a MAX of 16 Mbs down, 2 up. Usually it's around 12 down, 1.75 up. Makes me a sad man. In: Strategy Desk |

My internet definitely takes a little hit, especially if my wife is watching Netflix on top of streaming and playing, but my internet sucks. I do find myself getting distracted by talking with viewers and losing squads while I'm looking on my second monitor ![]() In: Strategy Desk |

I don't remember the last time I've seen a p4 command tank in a 2v2 and even normal p4s are a rarity. When was the last time any ost player other than lemon opened double mg into double flamer pios? If he had spammed Panthers or tigers wouldn't you just complain about that instead? Or if he went elefant would you cry about the ele being uncounterable for soviet? Sure felt like a different game on lemons part than the normal lmg gren blob into stug e into tigers that most people do these days. Feels like you're fishing for stuff to complain about honestly. Thread: Server Encryption 22 Apr 2015, 17:14 PM
Listening is trivial. Having access to listen can be more difficult, but still isn't even that hard depending on the type of wireless/network security being employed. The worst-case scenario as I can see it would be some one getting to listen in on the incoming connections to coh2.org's server. I don't know anything about their server other than a few small things I've discovered on my own (IP address, some open ports, OS version, etc). I purposely did not poke around any more because I wasn't, and don't want, to attack coh2.org... so I don't know how easy/hard it would be for an outsider to get access to the server. (Would be a fun/interesting pen test if I had some sort of written/signed consent from Ami though! Otherwise I'm not touching it any more than I have.) All in all, as Inverse said, it isn't a high risk vulnerability (in this case). In all likelihood some one would have to specifically target your home network in order to exploit it at all - and even that can be entirely mitigated by simply using a different password for coh2.org than you use anywhere else. Even if some one got access to your coh2.org account... what are they gonna do? Troll the forums I guess? And probably try your password on other sites - like your bank account/email/paypal/amazon/etc which is why you should use a different password. As far as Das points out with the piece of paper. In terms of storing your password, yes that's technically the most safe since some one would have to break into your house to retrieve it. But with the way passwords are passed along the internet you still want a good password. Even if your password is written down, if I see: dc647eb65e6711e155375218212b3964 come up as an MD5 hash anywhere, I can crack it in a matter of seconds and find out that your password is: "Password" As compared to something like this: 316d314d194256c3a5c7c591d51cf6e0 which probably won't get cracked ever. Well... I say that but it is an MD5 hash and MD5 kinda sucks in today's day and age. So yeah, it's still probably crackable, but a lot harder. In: Lobby |

I use LastPass for the convenience. I have 3 laptops, 1 desktop, and 2 phones. If I were ultra paranoid I'd use KeyPass with a local vault and hack together some sort of makeshift way to synchronize all my devices. Knowing that I have all my passwords stored in one spot I've got a YubiKey for a 2nd factor of authentication. Sounds like you're more than fine unless the NSA decides to come after you, and even then you'll be better off than most. I don't see any reason to switch to keepass given your setup. In: Lobby |
