I think the Soviet teching system has always been a problem since day one. For early game you have the choice of choosing either the standard t2 or the cheesy t1. Really the T1 buildings is meant for cheesy strats, it's filled with things the early game Germans couldn't counter, but lacks any anti tank to be successful so you should already beat the Germans early game otherwise the chance is lost.
Even when the Soviet faction became underpowered in I think it was the March 25th update. They still gather wins by using T1 because it was still very reliable.
I really hope Relic would redesign the Soviet tech to something that would make more sense for a company of heroes game.

And, everyone is a historian these days. You talk like you know everything about World War 2 yet I see misinformation in many places. "No they didint really have alot of elite troops at all. German quality of troops was best in 1941, then got worse and worse starting from 1942, this is nothing unusual, they simply died fighting." Panzer lehr, Fallshirmjeagers, 2nd SS das reich, Grossdeutchland still elite, just to name a few. They were still top quality and even better equipped than they were in 1942, and they were able to performed well against the allies until being overwhelmed. When many veterans die, there are still others to take their place. They were still more elite and better trained than the Allied armies they have gone up against. "Wehrmachts heavy usaage of MG 42 was suprisingly, also reflected in the game" Yes, the Germans used their MG a lot but guess who used their MGs even more often. THE ALLIES! America alone has produced more than 2x more MGs than all the Axis forces put together. The Soviet soldiers made a lot more MGs than the German army as well. If at all the Allies have more MGs per soldier than the German army, yet, that isn't reflected in vCoH. BTW, the Soviets had many more artillery, but who fired more artillery rounds during the war? The Germans! The Germans were better at keeping their artillery alive than the Soviets so they are able to fire more rounds. Seeing so much Off map Arty from the Germans isn't so far off, but should Soviets have more artillery abilities? Sure, but the B4 doesn't suck at all. In: COH2 Balance |

Shock troopers has been buffed a lot now ppshs attack damage has been buffed at ranged but that happened a looong time ago. It would be balanced if the MG42 has a better reaction time, because that would be the best counter against shock troopers, but I'm not sure if they are overpowered. So many people are just over exaggerating things now. The Katyusha did not go back to being useless, it's still even better than what it was before the July 22nd patch, because the regular barrage is more accurate your rockets can actually hit their targets in the first barrage instead of going over the enemy's heads. The Katyusha is NOT an anti blob weapon. Like the other mobile artillery like panzerwerfer and Stuka they are not really good at hitting blobs of moving infantry but good against support teams. The Soviets already have enough anti blob weapons in their possession anyways, so stop complaining for anti blob weapons. Just because the Soviet weapon fire differently doesn't mean it's less powerful. There are advantages and disadvantages to the two different kind of ways of firing the rockets. For the German rockets they fire up in the air so the rounds just rain down on the enemy, harming them instantly with all rockets at the same time. The advantage of this is if the enemy is unaware of this due to the intense nature of coh2, they will suffer a lot of damage. The downside to this is that the rockets make a loud distinguishable noise and it takes time for the rockets to reach their targets. Therefore, once the player hear that he can scatter his infantry from the most likely spot where the German rockets will hit. I've watched a game when Sib and Von were going against blobbing allied players, but Sib wasn't able to hit the blob with the rockets because the allied player easily predicts where the rockets are going to land. However, they had better luck hitting the allied player's support team because they didn't think of moving those. As for the Katyusha the rockets are fired more directly and therefore they hit their targets faster. You can't dodge the Katyusha you just hope the first round of rockets don't hit you and then run out of there before the next barrage come, if you survived. It's an immediate effect with some area denial later. They are also more effective against support team because usually the second barrage comes before the support weapons are able to pack up and leave therefore giving the chance of them getting hit again. Both are decent against infantry but a lot better against support teams. I only build mobile rocket launchers against someone who goes heavy support team unless I play OKW. The OKW don't have a weapon like the IS2 or Brummbar the only anti infantry vehicle option they have is the Stuka. In: COH2 Gameplay |

Relic seem like they have no idea how to balance units sometimes. Their idea of balance is a pendulum of extremes. One patch they'll make a unit the right hand of God, then the next they'll be give them the power of a mosquito bite. Mosquitos did kill more people than anything else in human history. The Germans still had a lot of elite units and veteran soldiers in 1944, until they lost most of them in the massive battles from operation overlord and bagration. 1944 was also the year the Germans made most of the aircraft. I also would like to see more air abilities from the American ( how bout b17 carpet bombing.... HOLY SHIT) but the Soviets have no shortage of artillery in CoH2, it's just that the Soviet players don't use the artillery doctrine as much except the B4 which is very powerul, and probably too powerful, if Stuka airstrike isn't available. Other than that I do feel the Soviet faction doesn't seem Soviet enough for me. The Soviet faction is CoH2 are only able to field the same amount of guns, tanks and artillery as the Germans in the game, while during the war the Soviets heavily outnumber the Germans in every kind of equipment except halftracks. If only the Soviets have cheaper, weaker tanks and an manpower upgrade center like the Americans have in vCoH. In: COH2 Balance |

It's all about RNG. The only difference between the T34 and Panzer IV is that the T34 is better against infantry but the Panzer IV is only slightly better at anti tank. The Panzer IV has a better chance of penetrating the T34 than the T34 has a chance of penetrating the Panzer IV, but let's put an emphasis on the word CHANCE because it's still rng dependent. In a straight 1v1 better between a T34 and a Panzer IV the T34 can still win against a Panzer IV if RNG permits it even though the Panzer IV stands a better chance. I just wish that there is more of a difference between the two, like T34s gets even more price decrease, reduce it's AOE and damage or armor but they would be able to field more t34s per Panzer IV to compesate for it's lack of firepower. I have to agree with others that double Soviets is just way more easier then anything else. I'm not saying the US is a bad or weak faction it's just so much easier to play Soviet, the Soviet faction is more powerful and they have access to mines. Now they have those katyusha that can wipe units while the Americans don't have any kind of equivalent. As for the Germans I can't say for sure if double ostheer is the weakest. Having those early MGs is necessary to beat back the early infantry spam. Both sides are vulnerable against early allied vehicles but ostheer seem to handle better against maxim spam. Also the Ostheer has an ability to destroy powerful stationary Soviet artillery pieces like Railway arty and Stuka while the OKW has none of that, but maybe the OKW is better at infantry or tank engagement then Ostheer while the Ostheer provides the important abilities I don't know. reduce the damage or increase the recharge time to 1 1/2 min IMO OR? how bout and, and more? Because when Relic buffs or nerfs thing they don't say like "we either buff this part or that part" they go like "we buff by doing this and that and this" So they gave the weapon multiple buffs so now it needs a lot of nerfs. They can just give it one accuracy buff but they also increase the AOE, the damage and other stuff, it's ridiculous. In: COH2 Balance |

I've seen Stuka and Katyushas a lot and it seems like Katyusha squads wipes more often than the Stuka. For some reason the Stuka manages to miss their target are just kill a few units even when the red target line is right on top of them and with 2 minutes recharge time this ineffectiveness is unacceptable. Now Katyusha just outperform Stukas. Relic did not give Katyusha one buff they buffed it heavily. They do more damage, more splash damage, and they are also more accurate. They weren't even bad before the patch yet Relic thought it would be a good idea to super buff it. The Katyusha already has its advantages over the panzerwerfer and Stuka but now it outperforms them in everything. More splash damage, more range, more damage, more accuracy, a barrage ability, faster recharge time, long area denial. What the hell was Relic thinking, I don't see how the OKW can win against allies unless they already conquered them early game. The Germans also have to kill targets that has more hp because Soviet weapon teams have more infantry than the German weapon teams, therefore the Soviet weapon teams have less chance of getting squad wiped, so the Germans need the firepower. The Katyusha needs a lot of nerfs, the only thing that was needed was an accuracy buff but all the other stuff are just overkill. In: COH2 Balance |
