There are 3 problems with Obers.
- LMG34. This weapon is insane. I picked it up yesterday with my Rifles. They were killing everything on their way.
- Veterancy. It's just wrong when vetted Obers are better at close range than vetted Shocks. Not to mention that they can suppress them befire engage.
- Bipod. Rifles, Paras, Grens... Everyone has to lay down to use LMG efficiently. That's normal. You can't be accurate at far distance if you are not using bipod. What about Obers? They just run and kill everything. They dont have to be stable to fight which is ridiculous. I mean, do tehy have arms from steel? Increase their close-medium range DPS but decrease far distance, or leave it but make them use bipod.
All of these points are little OP. Now imagine that they are combined in a single unit.
Oh wait... you dont have to imagine that
Shocks come in at 2CP, Obers come in later. Vet5 Obers? When do they arrive? Like 30 minutes in maybe?
Don't you think it's right they should be considerably stronger? |
Why do you have to come into this thread and try to stir up a flamewar?
I'm not talking about balance here, i think it's fairly easy to say that in the current game PPSH conscripts stand pretty much no chance againts LMG grens , that t-34/76 is vastly overshadowed by everything else including t-34/85s, is-2s and isu-152s.
It's because you only ever write the same thing "Allies UP, Axis OP" and do plenty of flamebaiting yourself.
You're never objective. If you just played more Axis, you'd see that the most imbalance in the CoH2 world is to be found in your posts. Just play axis, you'll see how wrong you've been. Don't be afraid of being wrong. Let go of your fear...
|
I remember when conscripts with PPSH could fight LMG grenadiers.
I remember when the t-34/76 was useful (((((
I remember when the game wasn't all about a-moving LMG units every game ((((((
I remember when Burts never played axis and was biased and always complained that sovs were UP regardless of their cheesey-peesey game-breaking nonsense.
Oh wait... |
I hope you realize that the vast majority of the people here do not agree with your opinion that M20 mines shouldn't 1-shot Pumas. Hence, it's just turned into another discussion completely off-topic. Like this post here.
Anyways, it's not as if the USF feels the same "problem" when they lose an early-game unit like the M15A1 or the M20 (both comparable to the OKW's Puma in a strategic mindset) to a single Teller Mine. Yet I'm not seeing anyone complain about that.
m20 doesn't cost 93 fuel (eq) although I do think the m20 should just be left with heavy engine damage. |
Wehrmacht have so its there.
And its not like soviets have M20 mines either you know.
Totally irrelevant, since the post is about OKW puma vs US M20 mine. Did you even read it before you started whinging about other factions? |
Bulgakov might want to read Bulgakovs signature.
Do you really think calling for people to be fired is constructive or encourages commonication with the community?
What would that improve? Is he sitting with an evil grin on his face taking enjoyment out of things that have turned out bad? Will him being fired not just bring in some new person that haven't already done his mistakes and as such will probably do them again?
Saying "Alright this is bad, lets sit down and get it working" Is alot more constructive then "You screwed up. F### off".
Ps. I will keep having an optimistic outlook an this matter, even if I do have little hope the letter will be some magic cure.
Is firing somebody never constructive? Imagine yourself as a boss. You get some numbers that say someone is massively under-performing. You talk to them. They fail to deliver. You can talk to them again. But if after a year they haven't changed it - what would you do?
"What would that improve? Is he sitting with an evil grin on his face taking enjoyment out of things that have turned out bad?"
No. I clearly didn't say that. I'm saying he appears unable to balance this game. He's had a long time to do it. He hasn't achieved it. That's not just my opinion but the opinion of almost everyone in this "community".
It seems logical to me that the person responsible for fixing the issues that are holding back a company's potential to make money can expect to lose his job. It may not be his fault in which case somebody else should be looked at.
It's two years since launch and pretty much the entire online playerbase is frustrated with balance most of the time. SOMEBODY is not doing their job right.

How former employees rated their working experience at Relic. Something's not right, clearly.
|
Yeah the system is better if it gives the player the option to enable/disable it. Either way though it hardly bothers me as a massive issue and I'll just have to learn to communicate without swearing.
I personally swear a lot even, though it is rarely ever an insult/abuse. It is just the way I talk whether it be online or real-life. Heck, I even swear when I am talking with my parents but they don't give a shit because they know I am a nice/respectful person.
You might be surprised how much they dislike it when their son swears. I'm sure they know you're not directing it at them but it's almost certainly still unpleasant to hear.
I talk a lot to parents about their kids, I've never heard any parent say "I like it when he swears, he sounds so real and grown-up".
In response to OP, I disagree. Although I've sworn at other players plenty, I think that removing the ability to use offensive words is a good thing. Now if Relic would just fix all the balance problems and bugs, everyone would probably swear a lot less.

While we are at it, why don't we buff the German armor, obersoldaten need some buffs as well, we need to buff pak 40, and please nerf isu 152 and give tiger ability to shoot and see through buildings and trees.
If you want to buff the only weaker thing the Germans have, you are out of your mind mate
Why be so dramatic? Noone was asking for anything near to Tiger shooting through obstacles.
The German Sniper is far to weak to be used. That's a bad thing, it needs a buff. Currently it's of so little consequence if it was removed from the game's coding, nobody would even notice.
Try not to get overexcited when someone proposes a buff to "TEH ENEMY ARMY". |
How about nerfing all early game clown cars or making them unavailable before the first 5 minutes?
Then making demo charges auto-detonate like satchels so they can't be used like unit-deleters?
You could buff sovs and amis to compensate, I'm suggesting these because I don't see demo or clown cars as either skillful or fun to play against. |
MUCH RAWR! VERY EXCITE! WOW
The new infantry grouping that allows models to be in cover is a amazing. The downside is that it is super duper easy to squad wipe now. Used shock troops for a bit tonight and was able to squad wipe an MG42 x 3, and 2 PF squads. Intended or by product of the new infantry grouping the player really has to pay attention to the game sounds.
In before grenades OP.
Yeah I've been seeing more wipes on both sides too |
