USF nades are fine considering the timing. 22X lights are a menace vs them, but that's it. The only problem with the USF AT nade is the long animation. Lost squads trying to snare a Tiger due to the animation resetting on snaring model death.
The last change that removed the veterancy is a big "buff" to them in lategame.

just a quick question: Was abandon of ST ever abused anyways? Never saw it being done and honestly it is a lot of work that might not even be worth it It wasn't. It's too much pop for one player to eat with only 2 units that fulfill the one role. Shock wipe unit. It was a good mechanic that didn't allow OKW players to just pop reload as soon as they fired the shot. Not only is sturm tanky AF, the shock of seeing it is really high. You know you have to retreat the units as soon as you see it because the running speed of units is not high enough to get out of the wipe radius once the sturm starts aiming (unless the strum aims poorly). So in worst case, you force retreats from all teamweapons and possibly wipe AT gun or two, pop reload, and backpedal it to safety. AVRE is cancerous, but nowhere near as cancerous as the Sturm, especially Sturm with vet. In best case, you wipe 3-4 squads with it. Once it vets up, at that point you can play sturm any way you want it. It has 40 range, coupled with kubel from the start that is scouting (good players usually have a vetted kubel in lategame sitting behind, scouting), or any sight from the teammate, you have complete dominance over a VP point. To give you an example. On Lienne forest you can completely control the middle VP if you're spawned on top. The shell will no longer collide with the train and the train will be a shotblocker/sightblocker and you don't have to worry by some out of place indirect shell decrewing your ST as it reloads. Anyone will half a brain will not let the middle VP be captured, and if your teammate has some pak43s, easily park them behind the building to really stop any and all tank pushes as the pak43 can easily shoot through buildings whilst the building provides sight block. Played a lot of such games, on both sides. Pak43 spam + my ST, never lost on lienne if I spawned up top. You completely give up one VP, focus on mid and closest one, park the sturm behind the train, supported by pak43 and 2x sturms and you're gucci. The allies would need a hail Marry attempt with the tanks/infantry to push through. But that's why you have double sturmpios to plant mines. But then again. Lienne is a trash map. Sturmtiger was never abused, and if it was, it was a serious handicap for the player that abused it In: COH2 Balance |

I mean, if 1v1 mode was all there is, then you could rework jackson easily. But do play 3v3 USF and tell me if Jackson is OP. Especially in a faction that has no access to any armoured tanks AND reliable anti-blob unit. So basically it all boils down to "Use 2 rifles to fight one ober" and since you'll mostly be going vs 2x Obers, you'll need the 3 rifles + officer to fight them. And while the OKW player is "blobbing" 2 obers with much less micro, you're moving 4 units viable to all sorts of strikes. Pak howi is downright useless in autofire vs blobs. Only good thing about it is the muni drain WP and vet2 HE. And that's a slow firing barrage. So again, anyone with a bit of braincells will move out of the area. Scott is laughable vs moving blobs. Right now it's good for accurate barrage and smoke. I usually backtech to 50cal but again, lategame elites melt it. Teamgames will only ever be Calliope commander if you want to win. Last 5 games had 5 wins. 2 Pershing 3 Calliope. The calliope games were easy and ended with a positive K/D ratio. Pershing games were disastrous. In each and every game, the Pershing gets replaced by dual Jacksons. Especially since most games are vs at least 2x OKW and in each and every game I see sturmtiger + KT + raketen wall. With the 3v3 map design which allows sturmtiger to camp behind sight blockers and wipe squads capturing (eg Lienne is a Godsend for STiger). So you can screech and yell how you want a good rework of USF, but it won't happen, because USF is well balanced in 1v1 and fails miserably in teamgames. Mostly because you have a much higher density of forces, and versatility matters less and pure firepower/armour win games. You can smoke all you want and whatnot, when you'll be greeted by 2x werfers and one stuka or STiger or whatever. Eg, you could call a 3v3 "1v1 in small VP lanes" (which often turns into a pile up on the mid VP) So you propagate the notion of USF as mobile and versatile. But in reality it's not. Except for the crews, you don't have anything substantial or unique in USF. In teamgames, it all boils down to winning the early game with better infantry and picking a calliope commander to deal with lategame blob pushes backed by Panther dives. And even here you need to ask the ally to place mines for Panthers. Once the Tigers and Kings roll out, no amount of E8s or whatever will help. M57 will cost you a fortune in munis to keep up and usually bleed you MP vs indirects. You can't ask for substantial changes in a faction which lacks basic tools and need backteching. Let alone when you have a stock KT and 960hp/260 armour stock tanks in both axis factions (and even 230 armour, low profile 60 range TD in OKW) In: COH2 Balance |

So who play regularly with the Pershing like selecting the commander for it? I almost exclusively play the Pershing commander in 3v3. Although, I think I have 80%+ winrate with Calliope. Pershing only ever becomes useless vs JP4s, mass stugs, AT walls, Elefant, Tiger, Jagd, Sturmtiger, raketen. Vs people that can't play axis, Pershing is a free win. Pershing either needs armour to 290 or 300 or a price reduction. The current "buff" in repair speed shaved off on average 15 seconds of repair time. Biggest problem is still the same AI as the Tiger. I've tested it myself, both vet0 and vet3 Tiger/Pershing vs blobs. Only time the Pershing won was when I really clumped up the units (AOE on it then wrecked the blob). On average, the better ROF, scatter and whatnot makes for a distinct win in the AI department for the Tiger. In: COH2 Balance |

Most good players can vet up the Sturmtiger to 5. It's not a rare thing in 2v2 and 3v3. So yeah, you've been missing out. Heck, I rarely play sturmtiger, but even in those leisure games with OKW, where I don't really believe in unit preservation, I manage to vet it to 4 or 5. Easiest vs USF, hardest vs Brits for me. That would be true IF the game hasn't taken a hard turn towards symmetrical balance and has a focus on 1v1 plays for Tournaments. You can kiss FUN goodbye and instead get introduced to all the "e-sports" BS terms. Meta builds, 1v1, skill, symmetry, etc. You can't have FUN (shreck blobs on volks) and BALANCE. One has to go. I always wondered, where the myth that a single panther can shut down a pershing? Maybe if it is vetted, but otherwise other then extra 5 range over M26, panther has no edge at all. ROF. Mainly because of that. Pershing with it's wind-up has a much slower rate of fire than the Panther. They will both penetrate each other the same, on average. So that's the main reason. Side by side, they are quite similar. 260 armour on Panther vs 270 on Pershing. Penetration the same. Effective HP the same. ROF in favour of the Panther. In: COH2 Balance |

Obers are absolute best mainly because they are stock, and mow down any infantry with MG34 + vet2 PGrens 2nd best also mainly because they are stock and are excellent to charge at the enemy position with a bundle. Rangers are my favourite, followed by Guards. In: COH2 Gameplay |

I still think ass engies in the commander instead of rangers would do a world of good for the Pershing. Not really. Maybe in 1v1s. However, I doubt you could fit everything inside the 100 pop cap in 3v3s+. Rangers give the option of having an AT squad that is more mobile than the M57, and in the end, a lower muni cost (150 muni once vs constant muni dump in M57), which leads to some stability. Not to mention that 3 zook rangers are more than decent at fighting anything up to a KT (also a larger role for Combined Arms) In: COH2 Balance |
