Yes, with ap rounds. There are some things you left unaccounted for Like: time between bursts, reload, shots fired per busrt, etc
You can test this in cheat mod. My tests gave the 50 cal the best case scenario (luchs was unable to move and could not fire back). If i enabled the luchs main gun, it would destroy the 50 cal very easily.

With AP rounds ?
Way too much time, are you sure.
It's usually 2 bursts on snared luchs and three on normal.
|
The 50 cal is terrible against luchs and should not be used to counter one. You should try it out in cheat mod.
My test had an immobile luchs, with the main gun destroyed, versus the 50 cal. The 50 cal took a whole minute to kill it. |
The best way of dealing with them is to stun lock them. Either use ram or tulips. |
I think the putting the wc51 in t0 would end up being too strong. Usf having its mortar removed would hurt badly, but if you play carefully enough in the early game, i imagine a buffed pack howitzer could neutralize the issue. The wc51 and lack of a mortar obviously could have been balanced around if this is how USFs design actually was, but i think a slightly more fundamental issue is that i dont think captain would be teched much since lieutenant would offer two weapon teams and a scout vehicle. Of course, if the teching is linear, then this would solve a lot of issues, but it brings up a lack of indirect fire. Having to wait multiple tech tiers to get an indirect fire weapon would be a little too much, i imagine.
Pak Howie works in 1v1, but people build walking stukas in larger game modes. However, pak Howie would solve a lot of issues if it more usable.
To the op:
I want my Willys and maybe have the at gun unlocked at any tech.
Relic probably does not care though. The only changes you will see will be in customs.

I like how neither side will compromise in every balance discussion . If you want to fix the cheese, you have to get together and make a list of axis and allied cheese. Currently, the community would be the death of this game if they got their way.
|
I blame it on bad map design. General mud, without all stupid the mud, should be an example for map sizes in team games. Maps just need to be larger in team game modes. I hope they create a community map competition for larger game modes. |

I remember the days when Mortars were the bane of my existence a couple of years ago. I would spend four or five games in a row losing games the moment indirect fire moves into the field. Ohhhhh... The frustration was intense, for sure. But I persevered and started changing the way I played because of it. Deploying less infantry on foot, not pushing forward with all my forces at once, using flares to scout for flanking routes, using Halftracks to more quickly on said flanks while my main force serves as a distraction... Halftrack flanking was made even better by the fact you can load Maxims on to Halftracks now!
Facing the power of mortars helped me become a better player and I'm thankful for that. While I understand fully the frustration it causes, I simply do not wish to change them. It's sad to see people simply give up and try to make it go away because they tell themselves they can't win otherwise rather than overcome such difficulties. There's no sweeter victory than a hard fought one.
No matter, I have faith Relic will never remove Auto-Fire from Mortars. It's been fine all these years and it's fine now. Well, other than Mortar Pits that still need tweaking at least. You guys can argue among yourselves now. I said my piece and I'm not changing my mind.
Both the ukf mortar pits and the ostheer mortars are cancer. They are both not fun to fight. I can easily open with double mortars as ostheer and have them outperform ostheer sniper openings. Afk auto-fire, which is as deadly or more deadly than the sniper, takes almost no micro.

They need to remove instant teleportation. The worse thing that can happen is when they pop out units right next to your sniper. You put in a lot of micro using a sniper, and your enemy can kill him by clicking on a building.

Really sucks when your squads get wiped by mortars in the early game. It usually means gg. Standing still or in cover is too punishing. |
