PG is very tough guys, when they have vet3 they will be annihilate all infantry. In fact g43 give you long hand, if enemy soldiers don't want move to your PG, they will be shoted by g43, but if they move closer they will be beated with STG and g43 (g43 is not bad in close combat too, not so brilliant as STG but still potient). BUt if you PG only with STG then YOU need to move closer to enemy that is more risky. My start for such strategy was 2 MG42 and 2 engineers, then fast T2 and PG. Grenadiers only need for their faust and long range mg42 but if you have osttrupens and PG with g43 why you need grenadiers? PG have the same weakness as stormtroopes of soviets - small range of fire, but if ST have smoke grenades to move closer to enemy, PG don't have such usefull tool. You can use doctrine with replacement of loses with osttrupens (and use them only for snare and team weapons) and PG with g43 and shrecks as replacement your Core infantry. This upgrade make PG universal (from terms of effective range). For close combat their have STG, for long g43 (and possibility to oneshot wounded models from enemy squad). In fact i found that g43 very good choice for shreck squad too, because with that you can wound enemy from long range distance. In: Ostheer Strategies

You can't fighting against VG or grenadiers only naked cons, you must have pressure on battlefield and penals give you that pressure (with higher mobility from m3). T2 was defensive opening, but without old maxim it's more harder to play through it. If both players have equal skill, more safer play through T1 not T2. In: Lobby

They should come with only Mosins. Right now they are too powerfull for only 300MP and 0 MU cost. Maybe a 45MU upgrade for 3 SVT could be fine.. Don't forget that penals are elite infantry like PG. If we do upgade for svt for penals we must do upgrade for STG for PG (and no one will be do PG because OST is ammo starving nation or will do they only for panzershrecks). And they already have upgrade for PTRS that decrease their AI capability. Without strong penals you will got situation when soviets have: bad cons, bad penals, bad maxim, bad mortar and bad AT gun (zis-3 not the best AT gun in game) and only good sniper and m3 for early game. You want to tone down ALL CORE infantry to near Cons level? DPS it's only one side of problem, another sides: 1. Late game scaling 2. Side upgrades (weapon and grenades) 3. Synergy with other faction units 4. Uniqueness of each faction design RNG is part of game, we don't play in Starcraft 2, where all characteristics are pure maths and digits. You mistake that you see soviets as WFA and want see their infantry like WFA infantry (or see WFA like EFA, that the same thing). Soviets and OST have old design. Especially soviets where all units good not one by one, but only and ALWAYS with other units together. If you play for USF you can build riflemens with zooks and bars, or build tommies with brens and piats. But for soviet you need build cons+maxim+zis3 and use Merge and Hoora to support them, it's totally different approach. In: Lobby
