Imperial Dane was practically correct if he was referring to older patches, the damage was extremely low, until the increased in a patch. The bofors barrage and artillery cover used to no damage, and even 25p used to do extremely low damage 2.5%. A direct hit from howitzer would do 4 damage. In: COH2 Balance

Supression is on par with the RE ability with maybe more cover negation. DHsK is the new soviet HMG. Although realism comes second to balance, having maxim and Lmg in the same sentence sound more like a joke. Water cooled mg where nothing but light (maxim was around 64Kg) and turning maxim to an "lmg" would be completely unrealistic. In: COH2 Balance

From a design point of view Soviet have more option available to them than other faction and the approach so far has been to change what the unit spammed. The was a time a of conscript spam, of maxim spam, of penal spam and even of Shock/Guard spam. The approach should change and create room for more the one unit to be used. In: COH2 Balance

I am not saying that the ability is not good, the ability is actually OP. What I am saying is that there no need for commander provide airdrop weapons. The overlap with airborne is simply to high and they 2 commander should be redesigned to bring different thing to the table. Making the abilities OP to make them more attractive is a step in the wrong direction. In: COH2 Balance
Thread: Recon Support this patch14 Feb 2019, 12:43 PM Actually since the USF tech has become cheaper there little reason for dropping weapons in this commander. Airborne can have both weapon drops in one ability that is brought inline with similar abilities (like the osttruppen one)and thus gain a free slot and reduce overlap. In: COH2 Balance

It a bit more complicated both in ballistic weapon and in barrages with explosive weapons... For instance the M1 vet 1 ability (m1_57mm_at_gun_vet_mp) has both max and far ranges listed as 60 while it should be able to fire at range 70... In: COH2 Balance

Anyway, the way cruzz's sheet has these ranges set is consistent, makes sense, and lines up with what I have observed about the game. The far aoe is 8. This means that theres the standard linear falloff from the mid (forgot the number) aoe distance to the far aoe distance of 8. From 8-14, the far aoe distance values are used. It just so happens that for most explosives, the aoe distance and the far aoe distance are the same. So yeah, if raw range works the same way (with a general range value, in addition to the close, mid, and far range values) and the vet bonus only applies to the general range value, then derbyhat would be correct. Cruzz's DPS spreadsheet, at least, claims that this is how the range increase is implemented. The question is weather the modifier applies to max range or far range and if small arm actually fire up to max range or to far range (or what ever is higher than the 2). So the situation is a bit unclear. In: COH2 Balance
