Axis have access to PGs as Wher which the timing is somewhat similar. I think OKW probably will have problems "depending" on map and how well MGs are microed but late game Obers wreck shocks both with LMG and STGs (doctrine vs doctrine). PG do no stand a chance vs Shock Obers come later, need a weapon upgrade and are only decent once vetted. You are right about them being map dependent, but that is not actually a bad design. By making units better on certain maps one can increase diversity and change build orders. In: COH2 Balance

Guards have about 18 far DPS (24 at vet 3) while LMG Paras have 26,5 far DPS (36 at vet 3) while having similar RA. Using Hit The Dirt only in a vacuum is unfair because the ability in a real match comes with several risks. I am simply point out an overlap between the suggested soviet airborne with 3 DPs and the regular Guards mentioning that tests conducted by Bizrock as an indication. If you do not trust the result I suggest you repeat them... Hit the dirt should be taken into account since it used regularly and increases the DPS of the unit. And what exactly would be the estimate performance of this unit? Ober level? Else normal Guard would probably be a better choice since the come earlier, have a snare and AT capabilities. In: Lobby

At least paratroops with Thompson or Rangers can fight mid range. You are comparing shocks with units that are come later are, more expensive, do not have smoke grenades and require weapon upgrades. This is rather misleading. And if that was the case the could come with 4 PPsh +2 SVTs similar to paras. In the end of the day they where facing axis unit and there very few infatry that could stand up against them. In: COH2 Balance

Only there is little reason for a long range unit, since Guards with PTRS are already superior to LMG Paras (at least according to Bizrok) In: Lobby

Shocks must be one of the most telegraphed nades in the game, because they must run towards you in order to be effective. They also don't have 100dmg nuke nades such as PGs, Obers, Falls, Commandos, etc which have almost double the lethal radius compared to normal 80dmg nades. If you find shock nades mental, not sure what would you call reacting to "cloaked unit" throwing short fused nuke nades to be. Compared to Rgd33/Mk2 grenade (Guards/Riflemen) the Rg42 has around double the far damage and sorter fuse so it is superior. It is inferior to "bundle" type grenades as you have stated thou. And you are simply trying to derail the thread going about 3 Bar ranges, ignoring that fact that according to this test 3 Bar Ranges are better than LMG paras and 2 Vicker K Penal are better than Rangers, although being allot cheaper than both units. Rangers, not so much. If 3 bar rangers were anything more then a factual possibility, they would actually be used this way and I have never seen them used that way outside of vacuum tests. Actually Penals can fight in most ranges since their weapons are good at all ranges. The fact remains that according to this test they rank 4 as the long range unit above units like LMG paras. Your theory that because you have not seen something it is not good, has simply gone out the window, when you insisted that Dshk was crap and needed a buff for years (because no one used it), only to be proven completely wrong when it dominated the meta for several months before they had to nerf it.
