I think you did pretty good work on balance. Yeah, there was some fails in the past, but right now game is ALMOST balanced (except cancer emplacements commander, few useless soviet units and lack of sidegrades (only FRP) for OKW).
If it is really you, Brad, i have only one question which you can probably anwser - Does other devs from COH2 team have list of unimplemented changes for future patch (your work before departure)?
And why Commissar and Red Banner T-34-85 didn't make their way to multiplayer?

This faction is simply overwhelmed by AT weapons. Puphen, shrek on volks, Puma, Luchs can fight light vehicles too, JagdPz4, Panther - basically, each tech tier has its own AT weapons except MedHQ.
No one builds Puma and rarely builds Raketenwerfer because volks are perfect at the AT job.
So, this faction need only one change - lock panzershrek upgrade in MedHQ. No upgrade, no fuel cost - just lock shrek avilability event in that building.
This will allow more variability to their techtree (building MedHQ to access FRP and shreks). Puma will has it's own niche (AT tool in the T2) and will be actually buildable unit again. |
To be honest, Button ability is overnerfed. It was fine, easy-counterable ability (just get out of guards radius, or use Panzer Tactitian smoke), right now it is just a waste of 45 (!!!) munitions. |
PS: sorry, i though you meant the Hotchkiss (the machine gun) but maybe you meant the tank, i really don't know why this tank should be given to the italians due to the fact that no Hotchkiss tanks were given to the italian army, so it wouldn't have sense at all in my opinion
I just want to say Italian faction will not fit "late WW2" timeline, so they need T3-T4 German units. I mean they will be (if they ever be) half-German, half-Italian faction which allow any unit that Relic will want to add, even the Hotchkiss tank. |
Because they believed CoH2 to be focused exclusively around the Eastern Front, since it was marketed as such and so having Western armies in CoH2 seemed impossible in their eyes. Those same people also thought that having the US Army would ruin immersion and thus ruin their enjoyment of CoH2.
It's why I still facepalm when people say "X army/unit and etc will ruin immersion". Immersion was thrown out the window a long time ago, and they're still complaining? It's too late now, if you want your authentic immersion, you would have to cut out a ton of units, maps, weapons and create new one's entirely from scratch and that won't happen.
I also remember that someone here says that automatch need "Authentic Mode" where Soviets can't fight together with USF in one team. And how everyone was impressed when sees T-34 in Western Front Armies first trailer.

And we're still fine.
Japs can fight with USF and Soviets, that's why they most obvious faction to add.
Units? You can look at their unit pool in Men of War: Assault Squad.
Italians will be another German faction, to be honest. You can add some obscure units to them like Hotchkiss, Pz3 and another, but their lategame will be complete rip-off from OKW/Ostheer (they both have PZ4/Panther).
Relic can make Japs army for COH2, fifteen basic units and few in commanders is not that much.
But i still think that they're working fulltime on DOW3 and COH2 team almost not exist right now. |

Hate to break it to you but they already abandoned this game. Not that they ever really supported it well in the first place.
It is looks like there are only 2 guys working on COH2 right now and no one of them is, idk, Balance Master.
So, this is almost 2.602 of COH2, there will be no even minor balance changes, maybe we will recieve new War Spoils system and it will be an end of COH2 lifecycle. |

Because Axis must steamroll, Allies must suffer. Srsly, when i play Ostheer and especially OKW, i can play with only one hand, barely using my brain at all. MG's with wide arc, tanks with great armor, speed and gun, AT guns which penetrate everything Allies have, best handheld AT weapon on mainline infantry, durable sniper with great stun ability and Predator cloak, and more and more...
Allies just requires a lot more micro than Axis.
All Allies abilities which can irritate Axis player, was nerfed to ground (For example, just compare Ju-87 AT run with P-47 Rocket Run). ISU-152 can wipe squads from fog of war? Okay, let's nerf it. Sturmtiger can wipe MULTIPLE squads from fog of war? Working as intented, l2p, smoke and flank. Katyusha barely wipes a gun crew? Nerf it to the ground. Panzerwerfer and Walking Stuka wipes guncrews even with gun itself, and Pwerfer's salvo pins infantry? "Axis need antiblob tools, everything is ok".
Yeah, this is sounds like bait, but it is still my opinion after countless hours in vCOH and COH2 since 2010. |
