I would be fine to pay one time 10-15€ for all commanders that exist and will exist. This way it feels just like a ripoff.
The cost of these new Commanders, frankly,is pisswilly.
It is uncommercial to keep arguing (as so many of you apparently do)that you should have everything now at a fixed price, and pay nothing more. All you do is guarantee less and less patching and the disappearance of the game sooner rather than later. |
You sir - are either a complete fan boy or oblivious to reality.
And you sir, are a goat!
At $60 to $100 a pop COH2 is FAR from cheap - and to THEN claim poor on top of that?
You're obviously wearing the Rose Coloured glasses - so enjoy your COH2 world sunshine - it's going to be full of people just like you soon.....(ie. a very SMALL world).
Please tell me you have looked at the cost of these Commander downloads, about which you rail so vehemently, Herr Oberst Ping Ping. They are in cost ,to borrow the quaint phrase, nickels and dimes.

If Relic will keep his DLC policy on every new stuff, even on those god damn faceplates then CoH2 will be dead within 1 year.
I don't go on the faceplates either, but like you, I bought the upgrade of the game. And like you, i also visit War Thunder, where they presumably make money from decals, plane skins etc And presumably, successfully, if what we read is to be believed.
People totally dislike any kind of p2w,
Just no.... World of Tanks and War Thunder alone disprove this.
and those new commanders are perfect example for it. altho it's a good change that you've decided to add more abilities to game but at what cost? People are now raging so badly because of that
I would think the radical departure on these new Commanders will (generally) attract rather than repel. Of course, there will be some who rage, but that will always be so

Greetings and Good Evening to the Commander of Kampfgruppe Disentitled!
Charging $60+ for a game and then nickel and diming an already rapidly diminishing player base - and THEN to hear people use the excuse of "they need the $$$ to continue the game"...seriously?
Seriously, yes, they do,Herr Oberst Ping Ping. Commercial exigencies seem to continually find you with snow in your pants, but it is true. $$ = survival.
If the game were 3 years old and $10 - SURE - I think most would agree they DO need the $.
The idea that this game (or any game)could survive for three years, fully supported, without further financial input is.......crass.
This is 3 MONTHS old and STILL charging a AAA price.
I think there may be a discount on the price already, but please correct me....
I really feel bad for the those that put their $100 and faith behind the company in the Beta/Alpha of this - they're the true fans and they're the ones who got the full shaft on this.
I don't feel shafted. Honestly, Guv, I do not.
(And so the massed band of Kampfgruppe Ping Ping marched away, resolutely, blindly, to attack its next target, trumpets blaring, with Ping Ping banging fiercely on the big bass drum....Boom Boom Boom....)

Hi Johan
@MajorBloodnok: There is nothing wrong with Sega/Relic offering DLC. They've already done that. Skins, faceplates, extra commanders from the DCE. There is nothing wrong with those DLC's because they do not add any additional gameplay features that are exclusive to those who purchased them.
This, on the other hand, is a completely different story.
I see where you're coming from and I understand your PoV. I doubt if we are that far apart. But honestly, the cost of this new stuff will not break the bank, and as long as I know it is being applied to support the game and improving it,I feel no need to complain. Ultimately, Relic has to be commercially successful and I think we can agree on that? I would say that vCOH was not a commercial success, since it never exploited its huge advantage. Maybe you disagree?
Look at LoL or DotA 2. Neither of those games offer exclusive gameplay features for money and yet they're making money by the truckload. Whether or not you purchase a skin for your character has no correlation with how well you will play the game.
This, on the other hand, does.
I don't like playing with green men, but that's me.I still come back to the point that this dlc is not going to break the bank, but if purchased, it will not break either the game - or Relic, but rather it will support it.
There is a difference between offering optional content and forcing new content down our throats. The latter option pisses people off.
Ye-e-e-essss..but this board, for example, does not represent the majority of the people who bought the game.It is better supported than any other English-speaking board for CoH2 about which I am aware, but I do not know, for instance,if Germany or Russia have better supported boards in terms of membership. Assuming, however, that this CoH2 board is as large as any other, I am dubious about drawing too many conclusions over what pisses people off
If you and "the others" think that this kind of DLC whoring is good for the health of the community then by all means you're welcome to your opinion. Doesn't mean it's right.
We must agree to disagree, other than we both hope our respective views may prevail |
I trust the Admin
I am not sure that this suffices, however.

War Thunder has a clear set of guidelines which could be easily adapted |
I tend to side with the likes of Le Mazarin, Caeltos, Wayward etc I see these dlcs as the necessary financial lubricant to keep the game fully supported, balanced and patched.
I do think that those who support expansions and nothing more, forget how pitiful at times was the support for the vCOH patches. And it bears remembering that version 2.602 emerged almost as an afterthought in the wake of the COHO destruction, with a good deal of out-of-hours free time spent particularly by Kolaris (player) and Mora Failes (dev), if memory serves correctly. Without them, vCOH would have hobbled on, it might have been patched intermittently (if at all) and withered on the vine, I think. It was not a good business model: support needs income to pay for support. You cannot rely on goodwill from the likes of Kolaris all the time.
Please correct me if I am wrong, but I think that Krebs mentioned in one of his broadcasts that he had paid £180.00 for War Thunder material. That is way over what I have paid for units there, but remember that War Thunder is ftp. That game is technically still in beta, since they have not even released the land or naval sections.
It will be necessary for Relic to keep issuing dlc, and good for them if they do. Nobody is ever going to be satisfied with all they do. But at least dlc = cash = continuing support and therefore eventually, improvements.
I was perturbed to see the arrival of trenches -anybody recall the Brit Recon Squad and aggressive early positioning, before it was eventually abolished in 2.602? But Grenades and 'Mortah' should see to this. If FHQ brings back Magpies FLight X, I will not complain (too hard) |

I disagree, I'm afraid.
If you play this commander in 4v4, the amount of intel it starts to pump out is so fast - (assuming the Ostheer is not sleeping) - that you simply cannot assimilate it usefully and know to which of the opposing 4 it applies (in the early game,at least)
In 1 v 1 ,it would presumably be slower and more useful, bcs it could only tell you about your oppo, but even then, the Ostheer is so restricted in its BO, that I doubt if you need this commander's intel, bcs you should be taking the initiative with SU, rather than reacting. And as you sagely state, if you can recruit Guards or Shocktroops, why hamstring yourself? |
Can the officer die?
Yes. It is worth targeting the Colonel, if you see him.
What happens in that case?
If the Colonel cops it, you lose the squad's additional abilities, even if the other members of the squad survive. e.g. concentrated fire, victor target etc so,you have to resurrect the dead Colonel to get back the abilities - I think Colonel comes back first on reinforcement, if dead
Something to note, the squad doesn't have any heavy weapon slots (or at least not enough to pick up a panzershreck).
Yeah. That's a bummer. It's quite fun though, seeing the Colonel helping man a weapons team. |
+1 Great! Thnx Sturmovik!
Here's hoping they can develop Oculus Rift cost effectively!
