On wehrmacht doctrines: I fully support the mod's team idea of including Assgrens to the "Strategic Tank Reserve" doctrine. Reworked Assgrens and Tiger Ace would mean that 2 other doctrines would get more attractive: Elite Troops and Armored Assault. That would be huge! Congrats Smartie - really good proposal. You have my vote here. Assault grens need a rework but honestly i don't see much space for them in your concept. From what is wrote in description Balance Team will try to do it anyway. Maybe in exchange for extra training (which idea i love really much)? I also notice that balance team trying to propose Tiger Ace revamp or replacing it with King Tiger (revamped). Again as i wrote few times, it's really shame (and i know i demand a lot) that BalanceTeam couldn't really make a serious proposals before the vote. Best example are soviet commanders decribe as "thematically excellent, and really captures the defining Soviet tactic of the war" but in the same time they declared to change 2 or 3 of 5 slots. Again, Quoting balance team in soviet airborn "We could additionally/ alternatively look at airdropped Dshka’s, airdropped infantry weapons such as the DP28, or other thematically appropriate abilities" - we don't really know on what exactly do we voting for even though generaly the concepts which have been choosen are really good. I'm not salty at all about blob strats and I even use small-blob-strats myself, but I hear complaints about this strategy in CoH since 2009 when I joined this game franchise. Do you think blob strats should get nerfed in CoH2? A very simple and effective way would be something like a "Horde-debuff". Those of you who ever played Command & Conquer: Generals will know that China's troops got a mechanic called Horde bonus. If 3 or more units of the same type got put together in a "blob" so they were in the proximity of each other, they received significant combat bonuses. So in CoH2 it would be the other way around: If you put 3 or more units of the same type together, they get a penalty like +25% received damage & +25% received accuracy. Does not include units of teammates. Would this benefit the game or would it make the game just more frustrating and unfun cuz certain strategies cannot get countered anymore due to assymetrical design? I would try to give more logicial input. Let's look into effectiveness of a blob. It's easier to kill someone let's say a shock trops if 15 men shots a guy rather than 5 models. That simple logic works in CoH2 and it's coming from a basic of RTS game design. OK, now imagine you have 1 squad - 5 men are caught by mg spread out across the area they SHOULD be harder to kill than 3 squads in 1 blob - 15 men. So 1 squad shotting at 3 squads in 1 group should have easier time to "score" a model. Therefore it's quite sensible to implement it into next CoH - it's just hard to do without any bugs and errors. Change that to 30sec and we gut. 50 sec cooldown equal of time build of 2 riflemen so your second pathfinder squad will come almost exactly as your second unit you will build from HQ. I guess that should prevent from early game advantage of builing 1 riflemen and call-in straight away 1 call-in infantry. Commander is still worth using though In: COH2 Balance

Maybe the current ISG incendiary barrage could be simply merged to an "Special munition" ability. Would provide ISG incendiary rounds and HEAT shells for the Puma = Both tech paths would provide specific advantages. Replace the truck with an mortar or let the truck lock down resource sectors, the doctrine would be more attractive and as important: It would not need much work from the mod team. My personal opinion light, small changes should be added: 1. I think one of the issues here is that incendiary barrage costs 45 (or 40) ammo! Cost is huge especially if enemy can just pop out from the house or move placement of support weapon. 2. Opel Blitz should be more atractive to the player - especially in mid/late game. Proposal would be to make it as ambulance and optional supply truck (merging ostheer opel blitz with OKW blitz into 1 unit). More hard changes as for example Sanders spoke of: splitting T4 into two stages or add OKW a mortar 120mm, etc. That would of course help the commander but it would also require futher, intensive test. Currently with incoming commanders that's not gonna happen sadly. And yes, as Sanders said huge chance for this commander and many others are new, incoming commanders which may revamp existing abilities (like opel Blitz). In: COH2 Balance

Realistically it'll just make me hate my own team mates, even more. edit: Though I doubt any change will come about since it'd drive most team game players would probably hate it. That (removing FF or reducing it highly) would give more realistic aspect into the game. When artillery fires you don't make a charge with your infantry (reminds me old calliope barrages and waves of riflemen inside killing everything that rockets spared). If there is a barrage you just don't push. As someone above meansioned of course with expection ISG and mortar in autofire mode. Attacking your own allies should be on the other hand reported and ban. In: COH2 Balance

Early m20s get free reign to cap 3-4 points in the duration, and the ability can later be used for comically fast back capping or, if you have multiple light vehicles, mass capping of the map. It makes a single light vehicle have the capping power of 3 squads, and that just really helps for keeping up map pressure. I wouldn't said that ability is useless, it's just general design of a commander makes it less potent that other abilities. Imo The Recon company has well design slots with plenty of abiltiies that require all type of resources which gives really diverse gameplay options. Simple spam of single ability blocks you from using others. Expect of Raid you have call-in arty barrage from pathfinders, Airborn drop cost 80 ammo + 120 ammo for LMG upgrade, 70 ammo costs greyhound 50cal, mine drop costs around 100 ammo, imagine you want also use granades and bar upgrades. It's huge ammo sink and Raidoperations are in the bottom of this queue\line so i understand people who said that they never used this ability. On the other hand J4J has right, capping speed is huge and can be game changing in some situation. In: COH2 Balance

And AT Paras are really good. Until 3 CPs you will manage to gather 180 ammo anyway. And yes, paras with zook upgrade are insane which people tend to forget. Before there was no need to upgrade them becouse of AT gun included in a airdrop. Currently AT upgrade makes much more sense. Plus plz remember that paras gain cammo with zooks which sync with greyhound really well In: COH2 Balance
Thread: Recon Support this patch13 Feb 2019, 21:31 PM Jump back to quoted post13 Feb 2019, 18:46 PMJibberJabberJobber The point of this thread is to discuss if earlier timing should come with higher prices for Recon Support. ^ +1 What is also good to point out that after the patch pathfinders (all versions) and jeagers become a new mainline infantry. Everything would be fine expect the fact that they are also the recon units. Recon squad features longer sight (pathfinder has +55 range at vet1) which gives them huge advantage in longer run. If i may suggest to add them a new simple ability - recon mode like in T70 for example. Unit has free ability that can be turn off and on which increase unit sight from common mainline infantry to that +50/55 that features the recon units. what do you think? In: COH2 Balance
