The issue with Pgrens is that they are meant to be good mobile anti-tank, but the suck ass against tanks, that aren't tank destroyers. And PZGrenadiers are not meant to counter HE Shermans that are completely undistracted, loaded with HE, ready to blast those grenadiers away! Saying they should kill those Shermans (the 1 hit kill all the time is complete nonsense btw) is like saying an AT gun should kill a Luchs if the Luchs is behind it; no, it should be creamed. Nobody cares if you pay 120 munitions or 200 or 500, the unit does what it does. Axis already has enough pay more to get far more units like the King Tiger who always kill more than what they are worth with minimal micro. Why do you want to charge anti-infantry vehicles headfirst (yes the Sherman is one, there is no truly dedicated anti-infantry vehicle in the game, and that would be silly anyway) using infantry, and expect to win? No you should be creamed and be ridiculed for how terrible your choice was. The proper way to use these Panzergrenadiers is on the defensive; cover your AT guns with them, use Ambush Camoflauge if you can, or charge at the enemy tinpot tanks when they are distracted and annihilate them anyway. You want to charge headfirst and kill the enemy with no distraction and minimal losses in a blob, and then you get upset when I call you out on it. Panzergrenadiers are absolutely fine, stop hijacking the thread and talk about how it is unfairly good against USF, which is the case with their tinpot vehicles and zero room for error. If it were up to me Panzerschrecks would be a doctrinal unlock: They aren't integral for faction design at all and are better than all the stuff that take CPs like G43, Conscript PTRS, AT Grenade Assault at their role. Probably could list more but you get the gist. And if you really, really must complain about Panzergrenadiers, make a seperate thread talking about how they are bad anti-infantry, which they are. Thread: Everyone plays axis becouse axis are better15 Feb 2015, 07:00 AM People play Axis the most because Axis is actually fun. Severely reduced BS chance you can face (120mm on Crossing is a thing I admit), and far more actually viable options. If Soviet T3/T4 weren't so bad, Jacksons were reliable, and more than half the commanders for both USF and Soviets weren't utter trash, Allied players would rise in numbers. Right now the only reason to play Allies is to club unaware players with Urban Defense on maps like Ettelbrück and Trois Points or rise up to the challenge of having a very low chance to actually beat someone of similar skill level. This is for 2v2, very few people care about 1v1 and even fewer people care about those people. In: COH2 Gameplay

Especially when I need to pay 320 manpower and 120 munitions for the privilege of being 1 shotted by a medium tank. That never happens to me, it's a case of bad luck. It's also not meant to go headfirst against anti-infantry vehicles. When they are mined, distracted, or stunned, send in the PzGrens and kill them off. Better if you have ambush camo. They aren't supposed to go up against undistracted anti-infantry vehicles, but they stand a fair chance. OKW has spoiled you guys, clearly you want the same omniponent blobs of doom for Ostheer as well. Buff Panzergrenadiers somehow to be more effective against infantry, that's all they need. Maybe buff Stormtroopers in the same time too, as that doctrine doesn't have any call-ins besides Storms which are apparently supposed to be its backbone. In: COH2 Balance

Say what? Rifles get mulched by LMG42 Grenadiers with a halftrack backing them. Get an AT gun to make AA halftrack useless. In 2v2 this is absolutely not true in any way, shape, or form. So what if Jackson can kill PzIV? It's still an overly specialized and overpriced "tank destroyer" with not enough penetration to actually do its job. It's such a sad unit. Also most USF commanders blow. Obviously yes Shreks can kill Jacksons, but I would never get shreks to counter one. That's the domain of the Panther/AT guns. Exactly, T3 isn't bad but it isn't great, it's just pretty much out classed by everything that USF and Soviets can build resulting in it's obsolescence. Soviet T3-T4 (yes, both) are both in a far worse place and are completely terrible. They need fixing first. Ostheer are just as commander reliant these days as Soviets really, mostly because of needing Tigers in order to deal with the insane amount of allied mediums and infantry. The Elefant still also has a good place as it comes in good commanders, but the Pak43 comes in some pretty crap commanders. You don't need Tigers, you have many AT options and good commanders. You just don't want to bother and can't leave your crutch. Honestly, do you even try different things as Ostheer? I do all the time and I am having a blast with how fun it is compared to my time with Soviets. Call in meta will always be the case as long as it's cheaper and better than teching in every way, this extremely obvious with Ostheer. You've got that right, Ostheer can do it as a slightly better option while Soviets are wholly dependant on their doctrines. Though Pak43 comes in good commanders too. Festung Armor for example is great, a hulled down Panther is a menace. Remember that it Pak43 only needs to kill 1 tank to be worth it and it will usually kill more depending on how you placed it and whether the enemy has artillery or not,so it's a flagship ability of its own and shouldn't really be in with many powerful abilities in the first place. I seriously cannot believe in the year of our lord 2015 people actually still think Ostheer is actually in any possible way "alright" when pretty much every single person who knows anything has stated that they are by and far the worst faction at the moment. And the issue with P4/T3 is that it isn't cheap! The sherman is in a tech that also contains excellent tanks that are good at what they do, getting a major as USF is just the default progression of the game. If you lose your sherman you still didn't make a mistake in teching. As Ostheer T3 is extremely vunerable to not only USF, but soviet AT and call in tanks. And in what way does OKW benefit from call in meta when most of their diverse infantry is gated behind it AND the only actual good OKW call in tank is the Jadgtiger as a whopping 290 unadjusted fuel. What what? Ostheer is an amazing faction and you don't even need Tiger. A lot of fun to play with many options. Play 2v2, Ost is a beast there. As for 1v1, not many people care about it and the game shouldn't be balanced around 1v1s but 2v2s, as that is the middle ground where most people are. In: COH2 Balance

Rifles have a short window to shine and not being able to heal that off without spending fuel makes that even shorter. They're flat out bad after the first 5 mins. In: COH2 Balance

I want to point out that you can try other things! I am assuming Gren -> Tiger example is for 1v1s, of which I have no knowledge, so I strongly suggest 2v2! The amount of possible combinations and viable tactics dramatically increases in this game mode, where Gren -> Tiger is definetely not the only option. Have you tried Close Air Support? Delicious! Jaeger Armor for example is very fun, which I am assuming is not much good in 1v1; it's one among many doctrines that become viable. You should try them and experiment. The worst you could do is to pick up Lightning War, use Relief Infantry and make that strat Grenadiers - > Ostruppen - > Tiger. In: Lobby
