The Jackson has far higher damage than a SU85 but slightly less pen. It is a RNGish unit as others have pointed out, but in my experience skilled players will use flanking to good effect and support the Jackson with other thanks.
Really; again, it make a lot more sense to give it better health or armor. |

I think the problem people are ignoring is that the Jacksons biggest weakness is it's low health and low armor. Really I think it's pen should say the same and it's damage be reduced. But it should have better armor and health. It's very mobile for a TD, and I think it having that mobility and the ability to take a hit would go a long way towards improving USF's late game without fucking over Ostheer harder. |
Some suggestions for making Ostheer not as crap going forward into the future.
More commanders/redo old commanders so they have game starting call in infantry, for example Assault Grens. Some interesting early game infantry call ins could be: Sturmpio's, Panzergren Infrared STG 44's, and a higher caliber mortar.
Better mid game armor. Currently Ostheer suffers extremely due to T3 being made entirely useless due to Jackson's which can come out fairly early into the game. So I would either buff more units in t3, or reduce the cost significantly.
Making Ostheer indirect better. Right now Ostheers two best indirect fire units are the mortar, and mortar HT. Meaning late game when your having to deal with massive roaming blobs of infantry your only counters are mortars that have to get really lucky to kill more than 2-3 models in one hit. The LefH needs a huge buff and so does the Panzerwerfer, I would also like to see more rocket artillery added to Ostheer. |

Beating OKW as soviets is easy, soviets have the most effective and high quantity indirect fire in the game. All OKW has to counters your B4/mortars/howitzers/katyushas is the Walking Stuka. |
There is a insane amount of blob killers on both sides, acting like you are utterly helpless in the face of a blob no matter what faction you take is dense.
Yes blob's need to be nerfed, but the game is fucked right now for reasons other than blobs atm. |
Lets be real here for a sec. Assgrens have niche utility, as do as Osttruppen, but thats about it. The fact is that at least 50% of Ostheer commanders and their abilities are generically pretty useless. Lots of people claim that Wehr is less commander-dependant than ie. Soviets, and that might have been the original desing intention and actually certainly held true pre-WFA. Nowadays it is no longer the case though as there are maybe 5-6 competitively viable doctrines for Ostheer, (You guessed it, stuff involving heavy call-ins plus Luftwaffe supply) which puts them about level with Soviets in 2v2. (stuff involving heavy call-ins plus Counterattack)
However, I would venture to say that with the current obvious success of con-heavy builds Soviets actually have become more flexible than Ostheer in 1v1.
This is in contrast to the WFA factions which feature no really useless commander with the exception of the comically named Elite Armour.
USF has 1 or 2 good commanders in any mode higher than 2v2. Yeah Ostheer has some extremely awful commanders and OKW has an almost useless one in Elite Armored, but Soviets and USF have far far more trash commanders and it hurts them far more due to the fact they are so commander dependent. |
Tiger's vet bonus's make them a better long term choice in my opinion and Iv see way to many people throw games by getting a Panther horde which just gets owned by Jacksons/Su85's. All it takes is some AT grenades to slow that panther right down and kill it.
Regardless however you should always support your tanks. |
