Well, first off, noone in they're right mind would shoot their rifles and/or mgs at a tank. One, it would certainly have no effect, and two, it would reveal you're position for the Sherman to shoot at you.

Second, the sandbags, wire mesh, chicken wire and armor plates we're all improvised defense vs the german infantry AT weapons, mostly panzerfausts and faustpatrones, which despite very low range, had a pretty good shot at knocking out any tank (panzerfaust 60 could go through 200 mm of armor). The sandbags wer're put with the purpose of stopping the HEAT warhead to punch through the armor, but off all the cases I've read, heard and saw documented, no upgrade installed on both Sherman or T-34 could prevent the HEAT warhead of going through, which is why in 44-45 all tank regiments going in close quarter combat, like street fighting for example, had to be escorted by infantry, snipers and even some times flamethrowers to smoke out the panzerfausters so that the tanks could shoot at the intended targets (like blockhouses turned fortresses) from safety.

I dont know.I dont have any sources but this gets quoted often in (atleast semi realistic) late war movie If reinforcements arrive that they should throw their Bolt Action away and take some Automatic weapons (mp40,44,ppsh). If you play Realism shooter like Red orchestra you get a feeling of how difficult a Bolt Action can be in comparison to automatic weapons.And i dont think the mp40/ppsh is that much more difficult to use and maintain. I imagine shooting is much more harder too, you need to aim pretty well with a bolt action while with automatic you can indeed spray n pray.

I don't have experience firing MP-40's or other WW2 automatic weapons, but I can tell you as an current active-duty soldier that:
1) Automatic fire by personnel wielding assault rifles is rare. It's usually on semi or short bursts unless you're practically point blank.

2) You can definitely pray and spray much more easily with an assault rifle compared to a bolt-action. Additionally, the M4/M16 series use a 5.56 mm round the recoil of which is much easier to handle than the Mauser 7.9 mm. Therefore, while it may take more shots to put someone down, the low recoil makes marksmanship easier overall.

3) As far as maintenance goes, the average M4 can go through thousands of rounds with only minor malfunctions if maintained well. The AK series is of course a beast that can go without cleaning, but for everyone else it's quite easy to learn. During basic training we learned to disassemble, clean, and reassemble our M4's in less than a week. It's a pretty straightforward gas-operated system. I doubt the STG44 would be much different.

Overall, assault rifles are much easier to use and train on compared to bolt action weapons. I hope this answers most, if not all your questions.

The point is to give USF flame-based anti garrison options. Without rifle co flamers, that leaves armor as the only option.

This idea is partly a slight Guard redesign and part con weapon package discussion.

One of the biggest problems with Guards atm is the "dancing" they do when not ordered to stand perfectly still. I also find that their effectiveness vs infantry is somewhat neutered by their default PTRS's.

I propose that Guards spawn in with 6 SVT-40's, befitting their status as better equipped elite infantry, and the ability to acquire either 2x PTRS's or 2x DP-28's. I feel this would make them less of a vehicle soft counter panic button and more like the elite infantry they're supposed to be.

My second proposal is a alteration of the con PPSH package to include 3 PPSH's and 3 SVT-40's. The price would naturally have to be increased to address the increase in firepower, but I feel like it would make builds without elite infantry a lot more viable. The package would remain doctrinal however.

Whats the benefit of building another engineers besides building more mines. Is there something I missing with this?
