His ability is to unlock tanks huh? So I spend 120 fuel to get tanks but am stuck with a unit that takes op pop cap and adds to my manpower income decrease for the sake of providing a recon run, an artillery strike that takes 5 years to come down and fake smoke \ /
Versus the expenditure for similar on the other sides? Remember, USF can go around the pop cap, by de-crewing your tanks and then reinforcing/buying another tank, then re-crew the tanks. |
I've found tank crews will go to the closest, most damaged tank to repair, even if it's your ally vs their own tank. And by close, like within one tank length distance. You can manually tell them to repair their own tank if you want to quickly get one tank back in the battle.
And yes, men under fire won't automatically go in their tank when click. I believe Relic made that intentionally, if your read about the ability. I'd say it's a good risk/reward package of being able to have the crew repair (rather than a 3rd party unit).
Assault engineers can charge great at the beginning, but later in the game, charge with your rifles THEN bring the AE w/flamer. Unless the other player force fires, the troops will target the (somewhat) beefier rifles and the AE will be free to engage and wreck havoc.
Major's ability is to unlock tanks, not be a forward trooper. He's support. Retreat point, recon plane, arty and smoke comes from him as part of that supporting role. Also remember, as he vets up (just being near the fight), he can lock a capture point. If you really want him in the fight, he can upgrade to a BAR or whatever. |
Totally agree with British trenches. Should be for everyone like on CoH1. It's a risk when building them that they can be used against you. OR reward for you allowing your allies to use them. To be locked out for a future offensive/defensive move I think is bunk. I've seen a couple of games where Brits built them at far off cap points, would see the Axis go to capture and then send his units and plop them in the trenches. Cheesy, since there were plenty of empty ones and the Axis couldn't use them and had to run off. |
First of all, because .95 isn't the same as 1.0, being that one still gives you a chance to save the tank, however small. Secondly, the Firefly, while overpriced for its shitty reload, is still way cheaper than an Elefant or Jagdtiger. It simply is not the same thing and should not have the same role.
Also, stop commenting on the Brits like you have any idea how to play them, Mr. Only USF.
LMAO, what are you, 12? All these drones that think you can't comment on game play of other sides because your playercard says you haven't played them. Your an expert with 18 games?
I suppose you don't comment on sports, politics and other such things that you have no actual (or little) involvement in? Grow up, junior.
I've played plenty of games with Brits as allies (more than 18) and see all the nonsense that happens and it's after effects. I'd say I can comment.
And yes, the .95 is near the same since you rarely see any big tank without other AT nearby. You don't have a guarantee you'll get it back. Firefly has weak armor, so it's definitely not the equivalent as the big tanks. You'll see Axis lumber in the big tanks on their own without much fear of losing it at first contact. In fact, it'll be leading the charge most often, or smarter in the rear for the long shot. Can't do that with the Firefly so much. |
The tulip rockets and to a lesser extent the Firefly itself aren't worth the cost imo. With the tulip rockets you are basically paying for a costly upgrade to earn the right to spend even more resources on an overpriced ability that may or may not hit the target. Sure it's neat when your Firefly takes half a Tiger's healthpool in 3 seconds but there is way more reliable AT and better ways to spend your fuel and munis as Brits imo.
I really wanted to love the Firefly because it looks awesome and it's one of the more iconic tanks in the game, but I've lost more than 1 game because I built the Firefly as opposed to saving for Comet/Churchill or relying on an earlier cromwell/centaur with 6lb support.
I agree with this. Using a Churchill supported with AT guns and better use of the muni's like for Typhoon runs.
They're not that hard to land though due to their incredible speed once fired and the Firefly also has long-range with both the Tulips and the main gun so you could snipe an enemy vehicle from the FOW without them knowing until they hear "We've lost a panzer."
They're too gimmicky. They take forever to reload and cost a ton to buy and use, but also allow the Firefly to instant nuke medium tanks. With people hating instant squad-wipes, imagine instant tank-wipes. What the Firefly needs is more reliability and less reliance on being a one-shot tank removal button that isn't that effective outside of that role.
I'd say the Pak 43, Elefant and Jagdtiger are pretty much .95-shot tank removal now for medium tanks. What's wrong with the Firefly nearly having the same thing vs Mediums?

I disagree. I think the issue is how damage is dealt to Brit emplacements by fire damage. This grenade is really in a good place right now. I find it really well balanced in general.
That's where I was leaning toward. Versus emplacements, its too much. Even the USF fighting position burns to the ground.
And please bring the warning call, "Grenade!" back when they throw it.
|
I watched one incendiary grenade burn a full health British mortar to the ground. I think that's a bit OP. |
I just want to add my voice to the chorus here calling for an ISG/Pack Howi nerf.
Just lost a 2v2 on Rails to these things. I literally had my guy base pinned, and then the first one came out. 2 of them literally stop any Allied attack before it can begin.
I love that they're good, after so long being useless, but this is just too much.
The combination of massive suppression, AND pinpoint accuracy, AND high damage, AND a MG-level rate of fire just makes these things into a dominant force that can't be countered without tanks or your own ISG/Pack Howitzer.
The worst part of this is, Relic is certainly going to overnerf them, and they'll be useless again. There needs to be a way to keep them good, without having them this batshit insane.
Played a 2v2 on Liernux vs two OKW. They just parked in the town with trucks and rolled out 4 ISGs. Dominated most of the game all camped up in the middle. Worst, with the laser accuracy, they forced fired on the base retreat points, kill the men as they retreated and not move until all models were at the base. Lame as f*ck. We survived that game by capping and holding the surrounding area and VPs, outside the insane range of the ISGs, buying us time. Jacked up game, and we got pummeled hard by the ISG getting near that town. And that's all they had, were the ISGs nearly giving them the game. Camp with ISGs, and play the Axis waiting game until the OP tanks come out. We managed to win, with a late game all hands in push that broke the rear flank and got the King and Panther.
According to http://coh2chart.com USF is the strongest faction atm in 1vs1 & 2vs2.
The only one saying OKW is op is you, but since you never played something besides USF there's no wonder why you spout that.
ISG's & Pack Howis are too good right now, but those are singles units not complete factions.
ZOMG!! I only play one side!! The horror!!! All comments I make must be null & void to your multi-side playing prowness!! You are SO awesome. Puh-leeze.
Man, touch a nerve much? I don't have the want to play Axis, especially since OKW was the most OP side. Don't remember those days? OR do you and that's why most of your games are OKW?
That said, my original quote "This ISG thing has just highlighted a glaring OKW OP"ness"" was directed AT JUST THE ISG being OP, as thread very well indicates, and you agreed in your quote. |
Its fine. OKW needs this to have at least a slight chance to compete with allies.
So many Allied fanboys around here.
LOL? OKW slight chance? Been playing long?
I haven't been here that long and I'd hardly call this place filled with Allied fanboys. This ISG thing has just highlighted a glaring OKW OP"ness" that it seems nearly everybody agrees upon.

Anybody got a link for the final games to watch? |
