6/10. Enjoy CoH2 because of actual strategy elements (flanking, use of cover, etc).
Tired of Shrek-blob, SturmPios and Falls that come with free "rape me" guns and attack-move non-mirco, and OP Axis tanks that all get smoke compared to glass-cannon USF tanks that should have smoke.
I'd rather play CoH1 if the talent pool was there and AT was viable. |
And ost can't have easy access to light tanks like everyone else
True, but I'd say that's a small price to pay for having shreks and paks. |
pffft ya ok.
Non-doc AI mines? Non-doc mortar? Non-doc flamers? |
Because...USF can't have easy access to toys like Axis. |
Ya, I'm not all that impressed. Just playing the campaign so far, but it's a simple RTS. The so-called advantage of having high ground doesn't seem to matter much. Focus attacks and attack moves works well enough. And with the NLIPs off for proper scaling, you really viewing mainly just the tactical symbols rather than the units themselves.
What I really don't like are the controls. As said in the review, you can't reassign/assign any of the keys. Worse, IMO, they don't have the same controls as Homeworld. IMO, if you're going to carry the name, you should have a majority of the controls the same. Especially the mouse controls. Lack of mouse Focus being the most irritating, and when you do manage to Focus, because of the controls, you can't "explore" your moving units like you could in HW 1 & 2 the way they have the mouse work.
Story is great Homeworld fanfare though. Campaign, in that regard, is just like HW 1 & 2. |
This commander is the result when a faction is designed purely around commanders.
I don't think calliope deserves that big of a nerf, just make the doctrine less braindead to pick. It has everything for every situation. Just like old rifle company.
Quad comes too early or shouldn't even be in the commander for a start.
Quad doesn't come too early. You can get the M15A1 in the same time or sooner. The problem going T2 for the M15 is lack of AT. Vs OKW, you die by the blob or by the luchs. So by going Support, you can go T3 for AT and get the Quad for AI and you're covered for both conditions. |
no behind the line arty unit should be a wipe machine.
I find it laughable that Axis has multiple wipe machines and call-ins since...forever...and everyone is up in arms about ONE USF call-in that finally is on par. |
Man, what a crappy argument. USF has a mobile FRP. Moving that is not really difficult. Now try and move the OKW battlegroup hq...
Why is it crappy? You still have to be aware and move your men about, especially when you hear the rockets. OKW can do the same thing. True, USF could "relocate" the FRP, but it doesn't have the HP like the OKW truck, does it? |
Easy to solve the problem
1 Move OKW truks to their base sector.
2 Give Aliies better antitank options.
USF has to move away from their FRP (Major/Ambulance) with the Werfer, so why not OKW the same?
To clarify why its hard to counter Calliopes to those who think it's easy as ABC:
The Calliope can fire at my army while being safe behind his army. If I try to attck his Calliope, I have to attack his whole army as well. I'm also attacking his army with a weakening army due to his calliope weakening it.
The calliope can get high reward with very little risk. You rush his defended calliope with a panther, hits a m20 mine and you're out a panther and now have 0 counters to calliope. He lulz and keeps bombing everything you have.
And...Axis doesn't do this with Panzerwerfer and the like? =/ Oh, and Axis more readily has mines.
Blobbing has nothing to do with it.
It's OK that it punishes blobs heavily.
But on the other hand it leaves no chance to survive for your vet 3 HMG42, or Pak40, or single squad capping point. For crew weapons it's insta wipe most of the time.
And again. Don't make it calliope thread becasue it's not just calliope. It's the whole doctrine which is insanely superior to any other.
Again *cough* USF has to do this against Panzerwerfer and the like.
Seems most of the gripes is stuff that Ally players have ALWAYS had to put up with.

Well, I pre-ordered. If anything, just for the story line, because I like Homeworld. And maybe, this will spurn a Homeworld 3...? |
