You might ask yourself now...why?
Well, I don't know where to start:
1. No leaver punishment
2. No kick for afkers
3. No ban for leavers / trolls
4. No proper matchmaking with proper levels. Usually you get games vs high level and vice versa
5. No use of winning / losing matches. You don't get anything else except random bulletins and no thrill in any victory. You can simply leave wherever you want
6. No reconnect option (its the 21st century, you know that?)
7. No report problem, leaver, troll option
8 No ability tree, but useless generals with useless abilities which has to be paid, each separately.
9. No in-game score system where you can check your place on the score table around the world
10. No point of leveling up, or getting different commander, or getting bulletins. You don't get rewarded for winning a game.
11. Not allowed to trade commanders, bulletins or skins (but you can stack up duplicate, sooo lame)
12. And the most important: COHO has all those options 4 years ago. What did you thinking when you make COH2? Downgrading in any possible way. Shame on you, this game is piece of rubbish.
Alright lets go through this:
Stuff I agree with that needs to be fixed:
1,2,3,7, 9 (website isn't ingame), 11
Stuff I agree doesn't need to be fixed:
4 - There is, level doesn't matter in mm, ELO does.
5,10 - There is. In a strategy game, the point is to get better and win better against other people so you can earn money/be famous/show off in tournaments. You don't play Chess for random perks, you play to get better
8 - CoH2 and CoH1 are different games
12 - Do you even know how CoH2 was made, it was a last minute cash cow for THQ before it went bust. |
1st of all, Aimstrong is pretty much a fucking legend.
2nd. You should realize that Aimstrong has developed a style of play - @ legendary skill level - practising it against all the known, normal styles, while his opponents face off against his for the 1st time
and 3rdly. Brits rely on key units, considered borderline, or just plain OP, as they only option. One single style of play, centered on a over performing unit, was the save and grace of a single brave soul, who lost anyway. Well ok, that was OCF, we can use the croc cant we?
Anyway, thats my opinion about brits. I like your way of thinking but I really feel brits are in a very bad place in 1v1.
Thanks for your reply
But yeah, I know Aimstrong played a lot in the CoH1 days, he looks uber because he's played against the likes of DevM, Symbiosis and Fireball, all great players of VCoH, which is arguably harder than CoH2. He's worked on CoH2 longer than the games been out ^^
Usually it comes down to these kind of tourneys to flesh out what tactics to use, what tactics are strong and so on, and the shock value of starts decreases as the tourney continues. Yet people found it hard to deal with DevM M20ss, Aimstrongs Centaur but the thing that won it for them was their very solid, strong infantry play to push Axis into their base.
Brits feels like one of those factions where things go really well or horribly. Could be better as a 1v1 faction.
Oh and Kaitof, I actually agree, Centaur shouldn't be nerfed I didn't see it as OP, its |
I like Brits in 1v1 but there are really serious problems.
Recently I had a game on Arnhem agasint OST.
PURE MG SPAM, like 4 MGs.
I took middle builings, bleed him a bit, but finally my IS cannot sit there for ages and I needed to reinforce them. He turned it to his advantage and put 4 MGs in the every single house.
And here comes the tricky part.
How to get rid of 4 MGs covering each other?
Personally, I'd leave it to fighting at the flanks since 4MGs are really crappy when it comes to camping. Maybe put an MG at my cutoff but yeah thats it. If you come to a brick wall, sometimes, its better not to try to smash it.
I'd agree that UKF could do with better indirects, at the same time I don't want to see Sim City being viable in 1v1s.
IMO tho, if Brits earlygame is significantly improved (not saying just mortar pits), their endgame seriously needs to be toned down - the only thing justifying Brit endgame dominance is their poor aggressive earlygame. (If it comes to endgame, Centaur, Crommie, Firefly are a handful already, let alone Comets, Churchills, Crocs). Not to mention the Brit offmap is just simply ridiculous (costs a lot but if brits aren't getting Brens, then they can really float muni) |
"If someone can make rubik's cube in less than 1min, does it mean it is possible for everyone? No.
It is still hard do to for more people and few who can do it in 1min cannot change it."
Okay so you're complaining about a faction that hasn't been out for a month yet, so you haven't really had time to work it out. Meanwhile, Aimstrong has clearly worked it out (if he takes brits and wins all his ties except the Grand Final, he's doing something right) so emulating his play would be optimal.
My personal opinion is that you don't build UKF emplacements in 1v1s as the map is too small and it costs way too much in tech (unless if its some sort of city map in which case mortars all the way, that said, the mortars could do with a decrease in price or a single mortar emplacement could be good)
You also play defensively early-mid game, you don't really have good enough units to push with. As brits, I never try pushing early. Vickers and Tommies are pretty decent in holding the line. Only after you tech or get Centaurs then you push (or you be agro like Aimstrong is but not everyone has the micro or game sense to do it, I know I don't)
Its a bit like playing Ost against USF and Sovs, you try to defend as much as you can and often go for counter attacks against the two factions. Same would apply for the brits, push as many squads off and slowly advance.
In any case, Brit endgame >>> every other endgame (and thats not even considering ridiculously OP commanders with Crocs in them - Vanguard Ops is ridiculous), it could use better indirects for those Osties who want to build Ost Sim City.
The key thing to take out of Aimstrong's games is that its not impossible, you just got to change how you play and make it work that way. |
Anyone else think it's ridiculous that a sniper can jam the turret of a heavy tank?
Well a Churchill was able to jam the turret of the Tiger. Thats how they have the Tiger at bovington.
But yeah, there's a lot that can go wrong with tanks, and the turret ring is usually a weakness in most tanks.
|
I like all these "Brits unplayable early-mid game posts"
Tell Aimstrong that ^^. I'm sure he has something to say about it in OCF.
But yeah, UKF emplacements are best used in holding the line, aggressive placements won't cut it. |
I feel qualifiers could have been split over two days. Playing for 12 hrs is the kind of thing ppl do for fun for marathons, not proper tourneys.
Other than that, it was pretty good I enjoyed watching the games and learned a fair bit from them. |
You don't really realize how it really is.
F2P literally does not mean free2play. Well, if you were some super casual about coh, sure, otherwise stuff like bulletins/commanders loosing HP or all commanders except for basic ones being only temporary, which you'd constantly have to rebuy/refill/repair, all basic features we have now(1 free tow, sov campaign) would be locked behind DLC.
Free2play model doesn't exist to make games for free, it exists because it makes money and a damn good money.
I don't believe few more players are worth introducing micropays that would force every single serious player into basically a subscription for playing the game.
Funnily enough that's exactly what they did with assgrens, tiger ace and sov industry and most of us paid $50-90 already by then.
It was a lot worse than F2P.
That and relic tried that model already - Company of Heroes Online |
When it snipes snipers, the accuracy is not okay. I've played Brits 3 times, and in two of the games lost a sniper to the LeIG. Maybe RNG hates me, but I doubt it hates me a lot more than anyone else.
Really could be RNG, well, this can be solved by target tables, but IMO, accuracy shouldn't be nerfed against standard infantry squads. |
It was really bad when it came out at first - with AssGrens, TigerAce, Sov industry... Relic and Sega are glad that they didn't get Angry Joe to review it then.

Just to show you - while Relic was doing this shit, the population for the game dropped by a staggering 75%. I was one of those that left for a year because of this shit. |
