One follow-up question - when you go Breakthrough, do you ever get a sturmoficer (sp?)? I never seem to have enough munitions to use his abilities so I'm not sure how useful he normally is. The Soviet player went Counterattack which seemed weird, at least until shreks and fausts started bouncing. What doctrine would most people use on this? I felt off balance the whole game and spent a lot of time reacting so I'd like some tips on what I should have been doing if someone has the time to watch. In: Replays |

I've only played a few games as OKW and have some questions for the people who play a lot of 1v1's. The smaller maps and no OST teammates mean not a lot of munitions and seem to force some hard choices. 1) 3 volks or 4? Does it depend on the map? Do you upgrade them all right away or wait until armor out? 2) Do you buy the ISG? I've been buying one but it seems to kill less than an OST motar but costs twice as much. If you don't, how do you counter Soviet mortars, who seem to bleed OKW like crazy (my micro isn't good enough to keep all my units moving all of the time). 3) If you get a ISG, do you spot for it with an IR halftrack or a unit like Jaeger Light or Panzerfusiliers? 4) If you're pretty sure that they're going Shock Rifle, do you get Jagdpanzer first or Panther? 5) If they've decided to be as annoying as garden pudding and get one or two snipers, how do you counter those? I've tried Jaeger Light but they still seem to bleed manpower badly. 6) What commanders do you usually have loaded? 7) Is there a map guide somewhere? You may not take me seriously, but i love to switch vehicle crews with echelons and upgrade the crews with thompsons. They shred at short range. Good micro required. I tested using the crews with Thompsons versus upgraded grenadiers using two accounts. The vehicle crews couldn't close across open ground versus LMG grens. If they can surprise units by coming around a sight-blocker and starting the engagement at short range then they'll win. They are a lot tougher than RE's so the trade-off is a lot of toughness and short range dps versus having to pay for the munition upgrade. They do vet up really fast. All-in-all, it seems like a lot of micro for little gain. In: COH2 Gameplay |

Even with ost buffs, they are still the weakest faction in game. Scout car still needs to be raised up to 30-35 fuel and get an armor and damage upgrade for the 2 cm. Hell the damage boost and armor upgrade can have a fuel cost of 15-20 to make it fair that way you aren't over paying for the shitty mg scout car. Or it could have the 2cm by default. Nobody uses them without the turret, why is it there? Just to add more muni upgrades? The cost of T3 and T4 for both Ost and Soviets should be reduced. Either that, or building T3 gets a command PIV or T34 similar to the Panther command tank (good main gun, mark target). T4 should get something as well. This would would make those tiers viable and add some needed variety. In regards to the units themselves, Su85's movement characteristics is garden nice person pudding, the way it struggles to decide which way to turn is extremely annoying and it seems to get worse when you try to micro it a lot. The SU76 needs a much longer barrage distance as it's mobility is about as bad as the SU85, it is really fragile, and needs to be near the front to do anything, all of which is a bad combination. On the German side, PanzerWerfer seems to underperform. I haven't tried it a lot so it might just be that I'm trying to use it incorrecly. Panther, Brumbar, PIV, T34, T70, Katy all seem okay. The tanks on that list would probably get used a lot more if the call-ins weren't as good or better and come without tech costs. In: COH2 Balance |

for those who say need to buff Allies should check my rank. This is probably the most specious argument I've seen on any of these threads. By the same logic, I could take four coins, start flipping them, stop when two of them have a streak of 8 "heads" and two of them have just one "tails" and conclude that heads is OP and I'll never touch a coin again. I hope that the people are Relic are smart enough to see through the fallacy of the argument and the obvious data manipulation. In any case, they won't bring back truck pushing. A WWII strategy simulation is a somewhat niche game and most of the people that are into that genre will really be turned of by the ridiculousness of supply trucks pushing combat groups out of cover. I usually play 4v4 and was describing the end of game units (and maybe exaggerating a little bit). The ml-20's cost is okay for what it does, as is the pop cap. I get them occasionally, normally build just one, but it still racks up 40-60 kills. It sometimes kills badly wounded tanks when I can fire into the retreat path. The damage is somewhere around 240 so you're not going to kill anything that is near full health. It's also great for punishing aggressive truck placements. In: COH2 Gameplay |
