Gonna just give you my thoughts as I watch
- Veto Langres as USF
- Dont go Lieutenant first. Not saying dont go lieutenant at all,but get him after your captain.
- a stuart wouldve just given you..."more" if that makes sense. Lieutenant is just lacking this patch. Especially vs light vehicles.
-
What vetoes do you use? I veto Kholodny Ferma Winter, Semoiskiy Winter, and Bystraya Voda (winter maps), then usually Road to Kharkov because it seems like just a couple of mg's can lock it down. |
Depends, I try not to go over 4 kinds of rifle infantry. I usually do a 3 rifle start, and a pathfinder. I get 2 paratroopers, but I also suicide a rifle squad usually so I can afford the upkeep, so in the end I have 5 rifle infantry in addition to officers and support weapons. Over the course of the game though I typically lose another rifle.
Alternatively u can do the bar finder build and go like 3 rifle into 2 or 3 Pathfinders with bars
Thanks, by the way, do you still use P47's? I've tried them two or three times in the last couple of days and they didn't do anything. In one game last night, I tried to finish a KT with them two times and all the person did was drive the KT back into his base. P47's seem much worse than Stuka loiter now. |
Not sure that a Pershing would be the best for USF, outside of 3v3 & 4v4. Also, there would be no way to put a limit on the number of Pershings without redesigning the faction, and I can already hear the pop cap abuse complaints if one is introduced
My wishlist would be:
better scaling for rifle squads so that they can handle lmg grens when the grens get upgraded,
rifles to always have the ability to build sandbags,
RE's to have the merge ability,
maybe for the bazooka to cost about 40 muni's or at least be worth the 60 that it costs,
lastly, if the US builds all tiers like OKW does, it gets P47's instead of KT's (or Pershings)

playing airborne company is still viable i think, but the strategy is a little different than this one because you want to take advantage of pathfinders and paratroopers too. for scouting purposes u can use major recon, and u can also probe around with rear echelons.
yes. i get rifle company for everything except the ez8
How many rifles do you get if you go airborne? I usually get 2 pathfinder but have been struggling with manpower if I have 2 pathfinders, 3 rifles, captain, major, 1-2 re's. Do you still use paratroopers? |
How to play USF in the current patch in 2v2s (Random, or otherwise)
TL;DR
Preferred Commanders:
Infantry
Rifle Company
Build Order 1:
Rifleman
Rifleman + Fighting Pit
Rifleman
Lieutenant
.50cal HMG/Ambulance
Captain
Stuart/AT gun
HMG/AT gun/Pack Howitzer as necessary
Major
Jacksons as necessary
Feel free to ask me any questions.
Why no Airborne? If you don't have any pathfinders, do you do anything to scout before attacking? I'm probably not playing the way that I should but it seems like I bleed a lot more mp when I don't have something that gives me greater vision. I could get a scout car but they rarely seem to pay for themselves and their mines are expensive for something that is more likely to be found by someone's mine detector than their armor. |
"Real soldiers are busy, you must do this."
Penals used to be useful when some OKW had huge reduced accuracy bonuses and before the nerf to them firing from clown cars. They're still somewhat okay, but they work well in late game unless vet 3. I used to use them a lot but usually go T2 and skip T1 unless I think I need a sniper. |
Best fix for howitzers would be a multi-phased approach, similar to what I saw lemon come up with earlier.
1) Buff Howitzer HP to not be killed by a single offmap.
2) Howitzers gain reduced range ~175.
3) Howitzers cannot be built in base.
This would give howitzers a trade off (offensive positioning to attack enemies, or defensive positiong to synergize with defenses), as well as reduce the shooting into base problem.
It would also make Howitzers ALOT easier for OKW to counter.
I like the earlier suggestion about decreasing popcap and cost -
cost from 600 to 320 (cut build time in half)
popcap from 15 to 8
shells from 8+2 to 3 +1
can have 2 max (maybe 3)
maybe cut range some, but certainly leave it longer than walking stuka
(do something similar with OST)
This would nerf it a decent amount, without making it the next B4, and make it so that the stuka dive bomb is less effective (bigger muni sink) at countering it. |
I love realism. The more realism is reflected in a game, the more I will like the game. Who whines about blizzards should have to learn to deal with them because, for the hundreth time, COH2 should not be based just on APM. Player skill should be tested also around strategies and knowledge on when to attack and when to stay put. Player should learn how to adapt his strategy depending on map. And so on.
That is why while I admit that deep snow, blizzards, mud, ice, etc, are annoying features, I also think that a player should be prepared for such conditions. In life, you can't chose the moment when it's most convenient for you that certain things happen, you will have to adapt in order to progress and survive.
So learn to adapt.
Then if you want realism, make all Soviet units immune to blizzard instead of the OKW (who serverd on the western front) and make most Soviet units immune to deep snow, instead of Sturmpios. |
HOLY CRAP THE IGNORANCE OF GERMAN FANBOIS
There were ONLY 44 OSTWINDS ever built.
ONLY 91 ELEPHANTs ever built
ONLY 88 JAGDTIGERs ever built.
ONLY 19 STURMTIGERs ever built.
STG44 infarred scopes were extremely rare.
ALL OF THESE AFVs/TECHNOLOGY mentioned had generally horrible service records. Elepehant and Jagd broke down all the time and were usually abandoned without ever even fighting. A handful of those TDs knocked out a few tanks and that was it.
German airpower on the western front was NON existant yet "Whermacht" has the most airpower in the game.
Sherman Jumbo saw QUITE BIT of service and had rather heavy armor capable of bouncing 75mm and even the occasional 88 (as reported).
IT DOES NOT MATTER. AT ALL. WHAT HAPPENED IN 1944-45. RELIC CHOSE TO DESIGN THIS GAME REGARDLESS OF THOSE UNIT PERFORMANCE/QUANTITY.
IF STURMTIGER/ELEPHANT/OSTWIND/JAGDTIGER CAN MAKE IT. SHERMAN JUMBO CAN DEFINATLEY MAKE IT and SO CAN PERSHING.
CAPSLOCK isn't your friend. Any message you had just gets lost in the rage.
There is a weird dynamic here with Axis fanboys and Relic. Historical arguments are only applied against Soviets or USF. When anyone brings up historical arguments against Axis, the reply will always be that the intention of the game is to be competitive, not be a simulation.
IMO, adding a Pershing wouldn't really fix any problems. The problem primarily is in the strange design of OKW with the fuel and muni penalty, five levels of vet, and units that are buffed to compensate for the penalty.
Lastly, the JT, KT, Elefant, and SturmTiger are the units that cause problems in larger team games. I'd much prefer that the popcap on those be increased to around 40 so that they don't dominate games and players have to make some trade-offs to get those units. |
the only rts games that i can think of that had the M24 Chaffee were RUSE and the Men of War series i think from the looks of it the Chaffee has made very few appearances in most if not many WW2 games excluding World of Tanks but it would be nice to see the Chaffee in there as a call-in aside from that with the brits coming into the fray relic might want to rethink that decision
It might work as a call-in, but unless it's characteristics were greatly distorted, it would be just a slightly faster light tank that couldn't stand up to a PIV - something similar to an upgunned Puma. I don't think it would help balance anything out. |
