Really nice to hear it straight from Relic. And yeah, they definitely need to standardize the community maps they put into the game. Some of them have uber high resource income and it screws up the game pace. |
Red Orchestra 2 is one of my favorite shooters because it simulates what an actual war would be like: scary as shit. It really makes you fearful to run across the street because you never know if someone will one-shot you as you sprint. I'm telling you, don't worry too much about your performance. Most times, the servers are so big nobody is going to yell at you if you do poorly. I've had plenty of bad games but I've never been chewed out.
Only bad thing is, and it's even worse in this game than others, if the teams are stacked and you're on the losing team, prepare to have no fun at all. It's really bad because you just can't go anywhere because your teammates aren't covering any of the major points on the map.
I'd encourage anybody to try it out for a while though. I actually hated it at first, but after a couple hours, it really grew on me because there's nothing else like it. WW2 history buffs will love it because it nails the atmosphere so well. Like others have said, just focus on not dying rather than getting kills. |
I haven't found any Ostheer players since this patch and I have no idea why since they got tons of buffs while OKW got some nerfs.
I was fearful that US was going to be really bad after this patch, but after actually playing, I still feel like they're quite strong until late game since OKW got nerfed as well. Can't say how they fare against Ostheer since nobody is playing them. |
They're much better than they used to be. They're not terminator squads like they were when the game was first released, but they definitely serve a purpose in the Wehrmacht army now. I've quite enjoyed using them. |
Kind of sad Kursk wasn't put in as one of the 3v3 maps. Anyway, Relic needs to look at some of these. The resource points are giving more than they are supposed to and I'm surprised nobody has pointed it out yet. Lemberg Fall 1944, for example, is giving +16 fuel and +26 munitions on their respective points. It's ludicrous. |
Browning M1919 LMGs are also 70 munitions now. Langreskaya Winter has been reimplemented into the game after a mysterious absence, and the MG42 got its old sound back (thank God). |
Establishing a treat point is a lie. I tried to hand out doggy treats to my men for a job well done but this feature could not be found. I am quite sad. |
Overall I think this is a great step in the right direction for the Germans. Panthers and Brummbars are sweet now. Very happy with the patch from their point of view. Both teams really feel like a lot more fun to play. And the MG42 finally got its old sound back! Praise the gods!
USF received an awful lot of nerfs, though. I'm not sure why this is because I think the general consensus is that they were the weakest faction after ~15 minutes 1v1's, mediocre in 2v2's, and basically useless in big team games. I can understand why some of their early power was toned down a little, but they really didn't get anything in return except tank production time decreases (which are very nice).
Soviets are largely untouched. I still feel like they need a lot of love and some reworking with some of their support units, and need a hefty overhaul with their tech structure and non-doctrinal tanks. Seriously, why give the T34/76 the USF .50 cal treatment? I don't think I've ever seen anybody complain that they were overpowered. It's just one less reason to use only call-ins, as if Soviets needed any more reason to do that.
Prioritize vehicles is a godsend.
Also, Relic, your patch notes are really hard to follow sometimes. xD Just saying "increased from X to Y" or "reducted from X to Y" would go a long way. Oftentimes I can't tell what's a buff and what's a nerf. Even after reading this whole thread, I still can't tell whether conscripts are overall better or worse then before. |
I used to think it was beastly until Relic "bug-fixed" it. Now it dies really fast. Which, I guess if fine since it's supposed to be a support weapon, but I don't really like that they did that for an HMG that costs more and comes out way later. I'd like if they got rid of the received accuracy penalty, even if they didn't tack the outgoing accuracy back on. |
It looks like a fun game but it has no skirmish mode so that pretty much made me not want to buy it. I was really hoping they'd implement it in the sequel. I have the first game but basically just quit immediately because of that. |
