You can still get it early yes, but as I said, that is risky. It's risky as it can't fight mediums and your opponent will have a medium tank soon after if you have not been domination, and that will give your Ostwind all sorts of troubles.
Imo the problem with the Ostwind is that its too good for its timing, but not necessarily too good on its own. Ostheer can easily skip T1 or T2 and have an additional unit for the manpower saved negating the light vehicle play and additionally getting Pzgrenshreck. Mediums in that case aren't even a solution.
Ostheer has a solid early to mid-game presence and I think that's going to be a problem once the meta setup. Allied faction lost it couple of years ago for the same reason. |
Many units cause powerspikes. This is not inherently bad. Getting an Ostwind is a risk unless you have been dominating the early game, so there is a clear risk/reward situation. Ostwind itself is fine in terms of stats. No changes needed imo.
No need to be dominating, even if the match is balanced the Ostwind shows up early. You really need to lose your fuel for quite some time to have it delayed. |

I’m making the point that the Pershing is inadequate for the cost because it can be easily countered and you don’t get the anti infantry capability anymore, hence why I’m pointing out that the unit is UP in my view.
Well that's the point of the patch, you can counter your opponent even if he build a heavy tank. Pershing is still able to wipe squad (I did it right after the patch) and still deal good damage vs infantry but if your opponent outplay you it is not going to save you ass like before. Same goes for the Tiger.

I stayed at max range cuz he had bazooka blobs and I didn't wanna lose a StuGG. Guess he didn't feel confident from max range. Not gonna pretend like he managed it perfectly or anything, it was adequate but I kept finding his pershing with double StuGGs and shrek Pgren behind his main line and diving it.
I must say double StuGG is love.

Yeah but those are specialist squads, mainlines only have 35 sight. If Volks had 45 sight at vet 1 it would be a huge issue.

They could use a increase sight range, even as an ability. They get completely neutered by same price/more utilities out of the box Pioneers.
Then remove the 5th men squad at vet3 which, if it is nice, has little utility in reality. |
