Before latest patch, there were cheesee tactics that people were tempted to use because they were making things easier for you (less micro for instance). Besides these tactics there were others, harder to use, but effective nontheless.
After latest patch, when OKW was nerfed, the cheesee tactics remain the only ones viable, if you want to win, of course. Anything else you do, you are next to dead. So now, these cheesee tactics are not only easier, but necessary, and they are still failing in almost 50% of cases.
How can you be sure of that if you do not experiment any other tactics? What I see is a bunch of players who stopped playing the faction that had the easiest way to win for another one. And the fun part is the faction haven't been that much nerf, you just need put a raken in your BO instead of only shreck. And people suddenly stop playing that faction because of that? Ah no, there is also Obers, they are not anymore 3 grades above any other infantry, now its just 2 and you need to make decision to pay or not for their upgrade instead of shreck.
What an hard choice, 1 less shreck replaced by a raken and decision making around shreck and LMG. too hard!!!
I wouldn't be surprise if those people decided to play heavily Sov and with the new Guard Meta. Same way to play and win. |
Why? Because there is a SINGLE allied tank it can't pen 100% of the time?
Because its not the best call-in tank which is somewhat wrong for some people. Ostheer should have the best ATgun, best medium tank, best stock tank and best call-in heavy tank to make people happy.
Today they only have the best ATgun, the best medium tank and the best overall stock tank. |
4xRE into 1xvet, works perfectly. |
T34 is good to chase remaining light vehicle ( or even a StugE, good luck with a T70), circle/crush squads, and can resist way more than a T70, if at 6 CP you have a T34, you can screw up an axis player waiting for 11 CP, gaining map control, so more fuel, will give you more heavies.
Of course, i don't recommand going T34 if you just lose early and mid game, and i never did
T34 its a great tool to "push even more the pressure" and punish axis player waiting only for heavies, anyway you will have heavies too in late game
I agree with you but actually Mid game dedicated units aren't enough rewarding or cost effective, in many cases your opponent can still turtle and comes back with a tiger/is2.
In some map, the strategy to give-up a bit more territory and let your opponent overextend and invest in mid units and then comes back with a strong push works pretty well. |
Depending of the map, I do
1x pio
1x sniper
1x gren
1x mg
1x gren
And I keep all of them really close to cover each other.
or the same with 2x pio to cap faster.
Actually I'm playing a really low level, not sure if it will still work in the future

Blitz let your tank counters its hard counter. It is like the riflegrenade that counter HMG by having a greater range with vet.
Something is weird within the concept itself. You build a counter to an evident type of unit and this unit can deny you for 50 ammo. What are hard counters for in that case?
Smoke is fine in my opinion as it is only a soft counter, it gives a bit more tactics and decision making.
Blitz is like a god mod of 5 seconds, if you use it well, you simply wreck your target and go home like a flower. |
Try Prostruppen:
- cheap (makes up for less map control because of going sniper first)
- 6 models (meatshield)
- faust carrier (protetion against M3A1)
- you have exactly 200 MP when sniper is built
- good at crewing team weapons
Can't say anything about 1v1, but it worked for me several times in 4v4, a mode not about capping, but about brute force, so prostruppen have less value and sniper have more.
Also, build no more than 2 squads of prostruppen!
Don't have the commander but thank for the info. |
Yes a fast clown car is probably the most dangerous counter. |
in 1vs1, I usually never veto maps, only when the matchmaking always proposes the same one in a row I vetoed it for the day.
In 4vs4, I veto Sittard because this map isn't fun.
Instead of opening a thread on map you ban, why not opening a thread on map you like to play? |
Hi guys,
I'm actually new in the Ostheer business, after playing Ostheer quite a lot during the alpha cuz everybody wanted to play "NDA", I decided to play the faction a bit more.
Just wanted to know your BO with a sniper start and maybe some more tips around it.
I have try 1xPio into sniper and 2xpio into sniper with good and bad results. After the sniper, better a volks or a Mg42, sniper + MG42 + pio is a good combo imo, it was working well in the 2xpio start but looking at my Ostheer rank, maybe it is not going to work further
