In a relatively even game - which I got on top of at the end and was about to start base raping, here comes the Tiger.
Now this was my first time facing it in 1v1 so I'm sure I made lots of mistakes, and come to think of it, this was the first time I was facing someone who was vetting everything and my retreats were often too late. When it appeared I got my T34s away but one was fausted and died, I couldn't get a safe rear ram off so I went to his base to kill the vetted infantry. Meanwhile the blob of super vet stuff that I'd been managing to wittle down or avoid all game also decimates my infantry while I'm desperately trying to save my tanks. Basically, the thing turns way too fast. With a modicum of micro you can avoid rear rams all day long. It only needs two shots to kill a T-34 so if you don't have the exact right opportunity - the turret must be facing the wrong way, and you're also coming from the rear - you're screwed.
I rammed it from the front at the end out of frustration and rage quit.
In no way is this any kind of game I want to play. I can't even imagine the sick minds that came up with this, I feel bile rising in my throat just thinking about it.

You guys really need to post some of this stuff over on the community forums. Or tie Noun and Breaking Brad up and force them to read it, then have them play COH1 for about 40 hours.
Inverse's analysis is particularly insightful. Put another way, Wehrmacht was given strategic depth through vet, while the US was given tactical depth through mobility and global upgrades.
Theoretically, multitudes of commanders with different abilities could give the game depth - the problem is one of balance and fairness. The vetting strategies and use of fuel upgrades is what gave COH1 an additional layer of depth beyond the limited doctrines.
Here's an idea - how about a way to use fuel to open up additional commander slots? Let's say you really need an artillery piece, but you didn't load with one of those commanders. Spend 50 fuel to get another commander slot and select it. This would help standardize the early game too. Who picked a doctrine super early in COH? No one except Defensive players, because there was no benefit, and all the better to let your opponent pick first so could pick a good counter (infantry vs defensive being the strongest example.)
But again, they should make commanders that have a tendency to counter one another, or are at least perpendicular to one another, if you catch my drift. This takes a degree of design knowledge I feel Relic's current team lacks.
I think we sorta knew this was going to be how it would go - I remember reading they wanted COH2 to be more vehicle-centric, and they certainly have done that. With no global fuel upgrades, there's nothing else to spend it on, and so of course everyone techs quicker and races for vehicles, sacrificing strategic depth and the "beautiful dance" along the way.

You don't need those unless facing assgrens or fast T2 pgrens.
The only Ostheer answer is more LMG grens (bad vs Sov Industry, or even normal T70) or double MGs, which force a Sov building. I think double MGs is the better answer but your micro has to be top-of-the-charts to then go for a successful cut-off.

This is noobtastic.
Soviets didn't need a 500mp start. Since I've discovered I can make 4 cons before upgrading Molotovs instead of putting down support or rifle command, I haven't lost a game. I'm on an 11 streak and just beat a top 50 player. And of course I DO NOT use Pussy Riot (sov industry.) I only put down a building early if they went assgrens because cons pre-SMG won't cut it.
All it does is make flanking early game even easier.

Von, given your preferred Soviet strat, and what the new Soviet Industry commander has done for that strat, I think you can cut us some slack.

Played 2v2 as Soviet tonight with Tristan.
We're done, I think. As I don't have the Sov Industrial commander, all I did every game was defend the fuel long enough for him to get a massive tank blob out.
I'm fighting hard, eventually get an IS-2 out, late as it should be, and it felt good to have.
Then I look over and see Tristan's 5 T-34s and 3 T-70s and I'm just like, what the hell is this for? There's no satisfaction in playing with it, there's no satisfaction in being on a team with someone who has it.
And without it? Yeah it's nice the Soviets have quicker build times. But the MP boost is better for Ostheer. Try fighting the 5 Grens you'll now see, or two Assgrens in 1v1 with a normal commander where you won't get SMGs or shocks till long after 2 or 3 of them have LMGs.
It's just over. Unless they completely reverse everything they've just done, this game is over.

Relic has deviated so far from what made vCoh so special, the game is hardly recognizable anymore. Having played this franchise almost since the beginning it is difficult to see such a well polished, beautiful game turned into this. I'm not trying to be over dramatic here, it is genuinely sad.

Just played my first 2v2 vs Sov Industry with the new noob-mode hi-res start.
Not only is it unwinnable, but it truly is nothing more than an arcade game with the amount of spam on the field so early. I'm really, really sad. I defended COH2 to folks who questioned it, and now I feel like an ass.
This is the most broken crap ever. Even Kangeroos weren't as bad as this in COH.
This was my favorite game of all time. It's so painful.

I for one am really disappointed with all the top 100 streamers jumping on the new commanders.
I was really hoping some of them would have looked at them, and helped spread the word about their ridiculousness and urge people not to buy them until Relic balances them. But no, COH gamers are like gamers anywhere, they're not here for the community, or the experience of the game, they're here to win.
Apologies to anyone who actually has condemned them, but I still see ALL of you using them.
This is akin to forming a union or starting a social movement. If you're the one not doing anything, you're part of the problem. And at $4 a pop to win, I don't see that there's enough economic impetus to start a boycott of them, though it would be nice.
This is how it is, and how it shall be, and Marx was wrong. They're sucking us all in, and it's a black hole of pay-to-win. Once you're past the even horizon of buying one commander, you're likely to buy the next even more OP commander to stay competitive. This is how it's going to work, and we're basically all sheep playing into their pyramid scheme.
Hell, even I bought AssGrens. But no more. Not doing it.
