I made a small tweak to my mod yesterday, a simple one line change.

I noticed when I opened it that there was a lot of red in the output file.

Literally every entry has a line like this:

Instance instanceRef upgrade_name in file c:\users\chris\onedrive\documents\my games\company of heroes 2\mod projects\luftwaffe\instances\abilities\aef\modal_ability\dispatch_ability\m10_deploy.xml references an instance that doesn't exist (00000000000000000000000000000000:upgrade\aef\commander\ability\m10_deploy_clone). Value changed to default.

Nothing has changed since I last built it, just a few days ago. I am very confused as to what is happening as it whipping out a lot of work!

Any ideas here would be greatly appreciated!

The "00000000000000000000000000000000" should be your mod ID. The attrib.xml contains that ID and it should be identical in your other files. You can also check the ID in the bottomright corner of the mod tool.

The tools just removed all invalid links ("Value changed to default."), so you should start by reverting your files. Luckily you are using onedrive.

My guess is that the .mod file or the attrib.xml is corrupt.

The files are all there & do have the right number in them. My back up does the same thing.

I can only guess at this point. I will test the modtools first when I get home. They received an update 3 days ago which might be related.

Otherwise, are you willing to send the mod files to me so I can experiment with it and compare the settings with other mods? Perhaps in a pm.

Though I am going on a one-week-trip tomorrow so I cannot promise that I can work on it tonight.

It has to be that or the Windows update that ran today. Happy to send them through, & no pressure, if you can look you can. I have compared the files with a June back up, everything is really the same, except I have a lot more files in the intermediate cache. I wonder if I saved & forgot to build inbetween updates?

Will PM you shortly.

Try to check all your paths to the tools, game, java. Because something similar happened to me and it was because for some reason all my paths were removed.

Thanks for that.... I thought the only thing that has changed is I added the tools line when I was making some skin packs. Removed that & life is back to normal!!! Thank goodness!

I didn't want to loose 4 years work!

Thanks for the help! My blood presure has returned to normal!

Gents, I want to clone this mod & make another with some small variations & use my Hungarian & Finn skins as a themed mod for the axis. Is there an easy way of cloning my tunning pack?

I am guessing I will need to put the new mod ID on every reference… has it been done... can it be done... before I waste a week?

It can be done quite easy :)

1. Create a new mod.
2. Copy your old 'instances', 'data' and 'locale' folder into it.
3. The drag the whole 'instances' folder into notepad++. Find & replace the old ID with the new ID.
4. Add the paths of the 'data' folder and '.tga' image in the new mod. (you can also open the .mod file with notepad++ and copy the old paths)
