I'm sorry if this sounds really dumb because of the high manpower cost but is re crewing ZIS guns with shocks and their armor bonus to help keep them alive longer to flanks etc. if you have the extra manpower late game?

It's fine, you can always merge conscripts into those squads if you are low on manpower and retain the ppshes. Plus you don't always need to reinforce to 6 men if you steal something good like an mg42 which isn't as vulnerable to wipes as a maxim.

If you are floating MP it is a great option. Many cases it could end up choking your resources. Merge cons with what is left of the shock squads to keep the utility and guns for shocks just with less model cost and durability. It is an interesting idea. Would be great for a stolen raketen. Too expensive for it to be a good idea all the time IMO since if you're doing it right your team weapons shouldn't be under small arms fire all that often anyway.
But... Watching flanking volks get obliterated by 4-5 shock ppshs is a good meme. Same deal with falls or pgrens recrewing weapons sometimes.
