Why are 1v1 games only axis vs allies?

So I was wondering if it was possible for this game to actually host an all factions games in pvp pool, outside of custom games, and why is it not implemented?
Is it because of balance maybe? I thought balance might have been why, but since the game is hardly balanced as it is, factions being asymmetrical in asymmetrical maps does it really matter?

And as for ww2 purists, since the game is designed for esport and arcade play, and produces only a certain degree of realistic display, is it really important that games in 1v1 (or 2v2) be only axis vs allies?

I know this could be regarded as a stupid idea, and I'm sure many don't feel like it's worth digging, I'm not saying myself that it's a good or bad idea, just wondering if others already thought about this and if there is a reason that the pvp isn't this way?

It could build up much more competitive play, for players to focus mainly in one set of strategies towards one faction, and think specifically in terms of match-ups instead of unit counters.

Ever heard of immersion?

CoH is WW2 based series.
It might be new to you, but in WW2 americans were not fighting agaisnt british or soviets and wehrmacht wasn't fighting itself.

Custom games, anything goes and stays there.

There was a wehrmacht Battalion fighting alongside the americans in Austria before the war ended Kappa

There were also russians shooting at russians.
Maybe a funfact worthy, but hardly history changing count.

It's possible in customs, but if they implemented it in Automatch they'd be balancing fifteen matchups instead of six.

That's pretty much why. Allies vs allies or axis vs axis is so wonky, if you've ever tried it.

"wonky" more like a soviet stomping grounds. People think volks are oppressive against rifles, wait till you see an M3 clown car filled with penals where you don't get a snare till you get abused to vet 1 LUL

I think those matches don't need to be balanced cuz there will be literally no difference between factions.

Although it would be the most 1 dimensional ones. Sniper vs sniper in the OH match up for example.

As far as i can remember there was a vote on the public beta for coh2 to have mirrors as a default automatch option. Ppl voted against it, seems that ww2 is still too sensitive to lore and immersion. ;)
I personnaly would like to see any matchups, its a game, don't care about hustorival accuracy at all.But too bad there is no matchmaker for customs... :(

Also it amplifies the balance hell. ^^

Having to face invisible anti tank gun, murdering 251 flamer rush and infantry that actually matches grens field presence, but stomps them for only a sliver of menpower more?

Almost makes me want to see it.
Ostheer being clueless how to siege a Flak HQ, as it's covered by infantry that is powerful at all ranges and invisible ATGs, maybe they can come up with a solution.
