Light Vehicle Meta needs to Stop

Title, I've watched and played a 2v2s in preparation for 1v1s from taking a year break. I also watched the current GCS tournament. I've noticed that now everyone and their dog goes LV, doesn't matter what faction it's always an auto pick. Current patch made rushing for mediums blatant suicide since LVs will absolutely demolish your entire army. LV are meant to SUPPORT AND HARRASS, not win the entire game for you.

I'm sick and tired of seeing 444/Puma/T70/AAHT/Luchs every single fucking match I play or watch, it's just boring because there's no strategic thinking involved anymore. Do I try to hold for fast medium or rush lights to win the game for me? Not to mention current OST/SOV matchup it's an autopick MobDef & KV1 leading to extremely stale matches even between different players.

I propose every single light tank gets nerfed significantly so they no longer a must pick for all factions. Especially T70/222/AAHT/FlamerHT as the Luchs is "fairly" balanced by not wiping the entire squad in 10 seconds.

Light vehicles need to be more expensive not nerfed. Then it becomes strategic decision.kh

As someone who regularly picks the AEC, I think they do come out way too soon, and the infantry heavy section of the game is a little too short.

Or at the very least, make light vehicle counters faster to access. I suppose much of it is doctrinal, but maybe something like putting Weapon Racks behind T2 and letting Volks take a Panzershrek might help.

Yes, I pretty much stopped playing 2 months ago. Its 222's at 4 mins. Causing you to blob everything together. Fast Luch's, fast T70's etc.

The thing I've enjoyed the most since I first player COH around 10 years ago, was the infantry fighting and dynamic cover. You get around 4-6 mins of that before all chaos comes down. Boring.

A general higher cost for light vehicles would encourage sniper heavy play early on. This would only further amplify the trend of Soviets and Wehrmacht being the two dominant factions as they have the best snipers.

I would try increasing the fuel cost on light vehicles but reducing the manpower cost. This slows teching, and makes them harder to easily replace, but wouldn’t be a flat nerf.

Not all vehicles need to be adjusted. As to your point on snipers that really only applies to usf and moreso to team game. Personally I would increase sniper build time and increase their capping rate so that double sniper teams and sniper openings disappear

Sadly that's "only" half the problem. The only way to fight LV's is with an LV of your own.

The "hardcounters" that are ATG's are a huge investment, lack the mobility needed and are unreliable in hitting the lv's. What's more, they require 3 shots to kill an lv, which is simply too much when fighting the mobile fuckers.
That leaves mines and specialised AT infantry, both of which have their own counters and problems (even guards become a MP drain vs 444 and flame ht and mines can be sweeped).

Thus if you don't go AEC/t70/444/aaht, you get fucked.

I prefer a HP of 360, but that messes with abandon crit change and still leaves 3 shots for atg's, (4 more like since the damned things like to miss lv's)

Says alot about snipers, if you need the current lv's to stop them.
Higher fuel could work if call-ins got erased, else you get the current mobile defence meta.

The AEC is crazy fast: it has a rush time of only 85 FU (30 FU T2 + 15 FU side tech + 60 FU cost -20 starting fuel). However, it's a primarily AT vehicle, so it doesn't have the shock value of other light armor. If you include its side-tech it also costs 400 MP 75 FU, manpower that could be spent much more impactfully at that stage of the game on units with stronger AI capabilities.

It's really a problem with basic faction design that can't really be helped. In VCoH it was helped by having the ultra light vehicles for scouting and anti-sniper, coh2 doesn't really have an equivalent.

They exist, they're just not any good at it. :)

They could be made to be good at anti-sniper duty though.

Eh? You must be talking about AT partisans as that's the only Shrek slinging unit the OST will face (unless of course they drop one themselves) in which case... What's your point?

imagine okw has no luchs vs rifle and is with mgs spam. ISG has not the aacurray, the explsoion area or anti-house power to push back such strat. Only luchs can help since your volks are only competitve at higher vet lvl.

but some LV are much better than other. when i think about the AT and AI abilty from t70 and stuart....i ask myself why they get such good strengt vs both targets and as okw you need the luchs and the puma.

vet 0 stun or engine dmg? no problem with stuart. wanna fight good vs AAI and armor? no problem with both till mediums comes on the field

Well the Stuart abilities cost muni and to do the engine shot you have to go pointblank range, which is not possible most of the times. Also it pretty much sucks as AI vehicle compared to luchs/t70, and another thing is that it is slower than those two. People now are forced to go for Stuart, because they need something to hold off all the LVs coming at you.

You mention Puma, which if played correctly can kill Sherman or T34/76. So you don't need to tech up and just wait for your Command Panther lategame.

Stuart meta is dead because stuart sux vs infantry and is decent vs armor. Luchs can easliy escape when stuart comes and AA halftuck die easily by sick raketen ambush only grayhound is really great but 5 cp is really late sometimes in game 4v4 at 5cp u should be ready for medium armor
