You can merge conscripts with shocks, but do you get a normal shock squad after that or is it weaker because cons have less armor? From what I understand the merged shock members will have same weapons and stats except for armor, they will be weaker, is that true?
Also related to this, if you man an MG with cons or shocks it will still in either case cost 30 to reinforce, but the shock manned mg will have better armor, correct?

You are correct: When you merge with Conscripts, the conscripts get the PPSH's, but they do not get the bonus armour, thus being weaker in terms of quicker to die.
Manning a dropped MG with a squad results in the reinforce cos and stats of that squad, so if you pick one up with Shock. The reinforce cost will be 40, however it will have PPSHs and 2.25 Armour.
EDIT: Forgot to mention - when remanning with Shocks, it increases the reinforce cost to that of Shocks, e.g. 40 MP

Permanently Banned VRL is correct.
Presumably this is to keep reinforce costs vs survivability in synch. The benefit of the weapon is a definite free plus though.

Yeah - Merge is useful in a situation such as: 2 Squads in the field,
1x Conscript Squad 6 Men full health.
1x Shocks on say, 2 Men.
Merge to refill the Shocks as they have higher dps, and retreat the conscript squads rather than retreating the Shocks, but of course they won't last as long.

Permanently Banned Lols can be had with a Shocks manned MG42. Considering the purchase vs reinforce cost, its definately worth it. And a nasty surprise for flanking infantry.
