How to reanimate coh2.
Why everything goes down. I recently looked at some casts, they are depressing.

Just not to lie I say some good players have a higher winrate as allies. But this is a thing of the past.
But overall what axis' advantages now. List of objective data not estimation.

1. Extra squad from the start. After tier is build by both sides. Boost to initial caping and early engagements . With small number of units 2 vs 3 or 3vs4 is a huge deal.

2. Much cheaper=earlier unlock of light vehicles. 666 before any allied light was seen on the top level.

3. Not as much as N2 but still significantly cheaper unlock of mediums. Which they have many puma, ostwind, p4, panther, even heavy brumbar while you only have 1 tank 3476 in your tree.

4. Axis can lock the territory, with big arc mg and better mortars, sniper, mass stugs. While requieres close to 0 amp doing so. It is impossible to attack into that.

As a result advantages at any stage of the game. Mines served as a tool to compensate for those advantages. AI Mines were game saving feature. They could be hard countered but only by players with some skill not by camping noobs. It required usage of sappers.

I think game have a potential to be a good. Doesnt mean poplular. At least amongst curent community. What is needed for that.

GENERAL. Game is needed to be skill based.. So defenition of RTS skill is needed. I quote by memory former gosu Huk with his defenition of RTS skill. "This game is all about micro. There is no such a thing as game understanding since there is nothing to not understand here. Its not a logical game where decision making matters"
So RTS skill is presice and fast usage of keyboard and mouse.

1. Bring back old strong mines.

2. Remove non 1v1. Community wrong complaints was a part of game problems. So clear the community of noobs. Most of them are team players. There are some positive individuals playing teams but we have to sacrifice them in order to make game skill based not abuse based as now.

3. Also we need to sacrifice fun. Remove the fun from the game. It must be hard to play high amp high presion game. I quote former top chess player about fun:

"To play well,... you need to turn approaching party into the most important event in my life. I watched others how they do it, fight, die on the board. Even Anand, who is older than me. but I could not be set up like that. Before I could, but now - no longer, "said 41 years old former №1.
and another
" If previously trained from Monday to Saturday and died on Sunday, then I started to relax since Saturday. These are 52 training days less per year".
So those who are looking for fun look somewhere alse not in this

At the end coh2 could be like chess - comercialy dead game but still played by many strong players.

I play CoH2 for several reasons:

1) WW2 theme

2) I don't like starcraft-like strategy that put enormous strain on micro - you have to control each unit separately (while most people just move units in blobs to concentrate firepower in one place), number of abilities of certain unit type multiplied by number of those units on the field is high

3) I like CoH/DoW approach with directional cover, limited arc of fire team weapons, frontal/rear armor, squad-based units. Flanking manuevers ACTUALLY MATTERS.

4) Combinations of upgrades/tech choices/commander picks gives variety and broad field for decision making. This is absolutely amazing, because I mostly play casual 4v4 random and in this game mode you can play pretty much with everything and still have fun time, unlike with stale competitive 1v1 meta where players feel like they are forced into certain commander picks/tech choices.

By writing "Game is needed to be skill based" you obviously mean "I would like this game to be more micro intensive". Well, that's your opinion, thanks for sharing it with us as it really matters when game has passed it's development stage several years ago.

That guy you've quoted probably meant some particular game, not the RTS genre as a whole. Even if he meant whole genre, you can't put CoH2 and, say, Starcraft in one row and slam "RTS" label. These are very VERY different games.

I've also noticed that asian players mostly suck at CoH2 with a few notable exceptions. Just my observation, not based on any statistics.

Oooohhh, this thread is gonna be ugly soon.
