Will COH2 get more 1v1 players ?

Not sure if the in-game searching/automatch is showing the right figures, but last night only 3 players were searching for a 1v1 game.

Steam stats, I've heard that all COH2 players needs to connect through steam is that true ? so are the stats on steam the total amount of players? Usually I see a peak of 10k players.

Although it's still a good amount of players, vCOH had more...

I sure hope this game won't die, although I did prefer vCOH, I'm all about supporting my favourite games, give it some time and hope for the best. I do believe that we always need to try new things, like Relic did, we can't always be stuck on the same game or technology.

A good example, I also play Counter-Strike. When Counter-Strike Global Offensive came out, the originals game still had more players for about 8 months after release and now with all the updates and fixes, Global Offensive is the most played of all Counter-Strike.

Basically, this post is about me worrying about the COH Community and the amount of good players.

In contrast to 1vs1 there are always like 60+ players searching for 2vs2 games, so i doubt it will die. Dunno why there are so little 1vs1 players though.

Maybe they find 1v1 pretty stale compared to 2v2 like me, as there's currently only 1-2 good strats in 1v1 afaik, and it always ends in P4 spam <444>_<444>

But the real ladder pro players were 1v1 not 2v2

I mostly played 1v1s in vCoH. But right now, I don't enjoy them that much for some reason. 2v2 on the other hand have become alot more fun :P

Maybe it's the 'lack' of 'rewards' for microing well. Which is more important in 1v1s then in 2v2s. In 2v2s it's more about teamwork and that is still fun if it goes well :)

I'm not playing 1 v 1 because (a) as has been said I feel locked into certain builds in a way I wasn't in vCoH and (b) because I'm crap and getting the snot kicked out of me game after game is feeling a bit old.

I will bounce back. I like CoH2. I really miss the community / lobby aspect of the game though and am amazed that it shipped without it.

Some of my happiest games were with friends, set up in the lobby with custom options. I can't do that in CoH2. Why?

1v1 is kinda stale in CoH2, but i loved 1v1 in vcoh. But as generalhell said, 2v2 is still as fun and intense as it was in vcoh :) So i've turned from 1v1 and 2v2 to only 2v2 basically.

PS: i think the meta game and balance isn't there to enjoy the 1v1 scene.

Not really. Symbiosis is arguably the best all around player in last year before COH2 and he preferred 2v2. Also Seb won 2 2v2 tournaments. Guderian won one as well (with DrHorse I think).

The peak number of players online at once for CoH 1 happened several years after release.

My reason for not playing it much is 1vs1 just is not laid as well as original. Reusing 2vs2 maps for 1vs1? When one faction can cap with cars from almost start of game, and then cap with tanks. Trying to fight hit the dirt spam, and clown car spam. And then su 85 spam. cheap flamer clown cars negate any mg lock down you can do. Build order is almost always the exact same for both factions.1vs1 needs a complete rethink of map designs and resource allocation. Trying to fight free hit the dirt and clown car spam when resources are already low, and trying to out cap one side that excels at being mobile......If scout cars didn't come so ridiculously early than german t1 wouldn't be totally negated, both teams then wouldn't be forced into the same build order over and over.

Hit the Dirt and clown cars doesn't make for an auto win..... I sort of wish I was better at using HTD.

I never saw more player in VCoH than CoH2 , im actually glad how many players are in 1v1 and 2v2 , im delighted dunno where is this alert comming from

I think the lack of leagues and a visible leader board (combined with sometimes fuzzy match making) are also discouraging newbies. Meeting someone 40 levels higher than them (although levels don't mean much) and then getting stomped without being able to actually assess your position in the ladder as well as your enemy's position isn't really encouraging people to play more automatch games.
