Hi all,

A radical idea I have,

- Remove their fuel costs and adjust mp similiar to pak43, B4 etc.
- Increase their health and keep their hitbox as it is now.
- Crew can get damage from any fire. Using brace ability, crew gets no damage from any fire.
- In brace state, no crew damage yet emplacement itself gets damage from fire.

Result; You will have weapon support emplacement slightly more durable (not godlike) than other factions, and cheaper than before

Everyday there is a new suggestion for emplacements, No one understands its a no bleed unit that does so much damage for the owner with barely any input

While this idea is good, the current engine does not work well with crew in emplacements. This was implemented before, and tons of bugs occurred, which eventually forced Relic to remove crew damage from emplacements.

all the suggestion regarding durability is missing the fact axis early artillery can actually hurt the emplacement pretty well.

what's making the emplacement overpowered is not their durability but their coverage. the ost mortar and OKW leig are both out ranged by the mortar emplacement.

the situation is especially bad for the ost since the bofor suppression barrage match range with the mortar. Lower the range on the mortar emplacement's autofire and suppression barrage if you want to make the emplacement less overpowered.

Build without a crew, must man it with tommies or sappers then will work...

That would mean constant babysitting by an already limited number of squads on the field.

Plus a very small price for each emplacement then.

And I think people are forgetting that the British make up with the emplacements what they lack in early game and their high cost T0 units with high manpower bleed, those being the Vickers and IS, the UC's paper armor and questionable performance against garrisons with the flame upgrade on is a whole other matter.

Probably the only change that emplacements need are that they should not be buildable in-base. On maps like Crossroads an in-base mortar pit is impossible to counter because of shot-blocking forest walls and most offmaps not working in the enemies base sector.

On small 1v1 maps they are crazy. The most efficient tool. A safe strategy is build 1 mortar emplacement and one AA emplacement one close to the other and both of them close to base, and guard them almost all game while bleeding your opponent that tries to kill them. Then, in lategame, crush him with your tanks. Repiar them, brace them and they will be immortal even if bombarded by mortars and leighs.

And I don't want to hear anything about mortar HT guys. That thing was the only efficient anti-emplacement tool for OH. But that was one of the last okish units and they nerfed it with the fire damage adjustments. That thing is a joke right now, it doesn't worth building for its price.

That only really works against players foolish enough to engage them early game with a skeleton crew. A smart player will punish this strat by pocketing you with the aid of a light vehicle and simply rush for lategame armor. Firespark's suggestion is his other thread's probably the best (mortar auto barrage to 80 range, Bofors barrage to 60) as the Bofors can't counter its counters and the mortar pit requires micro.
