Rewind for Replays

This is sort of a wish thing.

I feel that having a rewind feature for replays would make analyzing long matches so much easier.

Not sure what else to say except I think many players would welcome this.

Replays aren't actually replays however, so this feature isn't possible.

Replays are action simulations played out by the game following a strict set of instructions, those instructions being the game you just saved, so in actual fact a replay is not something you can wind back because the game actually doesn't know what's going to happen, same reason you can't skip ahead by clicking the bar.

Point been, why couldn't we save states of the games every 1/5 minutes? That would be something at least.

It's possible, it's just probably really hard to shoehorn into their 10-year-old replay system. It's likely not worth the time and inevitable bugs for them to implement it in the current engine.

the engine only goes forward and essence engine has been largely shit canned by them so they aren't going to invest much time.

If you do a bit of digging about you can see Relic are investing quite a lot of resources into Unity.

Unity is terrible.

Everything runs and looks like turbo shit.

yeah, they did a few lectures at GDC with some graphics tech in unity and have hosted numerous events in VC to do with unity.

Not to mention Creative Assembly are dabbling with Unity with a mobile game.
