pretty sure its a feature, otherwise youd be seeing a floating mg retreat, why would they add the animation, although I agree its kinda silly.


MG34/42/Vickers(?) teleports the weapon to the crew. So it's not a matter of animations.


I thought that pack/unpack speed has disadvanatage in small arc of fire :P


There was a time we justified it because of 6man crew. So much has change (specially lethality)

Because the question is whether the manpower is worth it. Not whether relic should just wave their magic wand and make it happen. Some people just have realistic expectations and know how these things actually work.

I voted no, it has been like this for a long time, and before incendiary grenades you only needed to worry about Grenadier riflegrenades & LMG 42´s sniping the crew members, but they have been nerfed so are the OKW Volksgrenadiers the only reason for this change? (did they smoke and flank, to get close enough to throw the incendiary grenade?)

Wasn't this exact argument why they fixed the death loop on mg42, if you replace "volksgrenadiers" and "incendiary grenade" with "conscript" and "molotov"?

It should be a downside to spamming Maxims and give a chance to the opponent to capture a Maxim which usually stops the spam. This is not even enough. They should make something to discourage SOV to spam Maxims.

Oh! Oh! I got an idea!

Make conscripts useful without upgrades!
Alternatively, make penals not to be "see? you're so bad I can beat you even with this" kind of unit!

As long as maxim is the only soviet stock infantry unit that doesn't bleed and feed vet all the time, you will not see it less popular.

Not everyone likes to spam shocks or guards and maxim is the only unit allowing to play without them.

Gunner death loop is not a big problem imo, I spam maxims a lot :snfPeter: and know how to avoid it, this happens only when you not retreat immediately when a blob approaches your lone maxim and focuses it down.
any other HMG would die too in same situation, and Maxim imo has equal chance to survive (if not higher) because of bigger crew and the fact that it can soft retreat with sprint.

Fast unpack and pack time is balanced out by the narrow arc of fire, so giving it the death loop on retreat aswell is pretty hilarious. Something could be tweaked surely.

I agree the .50 cal needs some significant tweaking.

You've got a 4-man MG team that is almost always wiped by one Gren Rifle nade, this issue w/ pick up on retreat, and the thing costs 280 MP.

Would anyone take the 280 MP, 4-man .50 cal over the 240 MP, 6-man Maxim, or 4-man, 260 MP MG42?
