If the game if ever supposed to get as perfect as it can be, you (Relic) can't handle it only with things like stats of units and costs of units.
So many pathces and we still haven't got rid of blobbing and spams. In one stream, i heard that "blobs will always be in the game". However, they don't have to be and they won't be if you will add some aura of units and if more than three units will stay to close to each other, they get a negative bonus (of course this would be disabled nearby of all medical stations, HQs and such things)
Another problem are spams. Why not to simply make the unit unavailable for making once it already has a number of "friends" on the field. So each faction can have only 4 engineer units, only 3 core infantry units, only two same tanks, only two same TDs, only two same supporting weapons on the field at the same time. (Of course, it would be avoided by kiling the crew and then recrewing, but better than nothing)
Quickrushing units isn't so terrible, but also it could be solved by simply making it unable to come before certain minute of the game, no matter how much resources do you have.
Now, someone's surely gonna say "why not to simply make more blob counters?" Well, blob counters can have negative effect on other units, for example democharges are perfect for clicking off expensive vet5 squads. While the negative bonus aura couldn't have any negative effect (except for bugs obviously...)
It's time for some alternative ways of balancing

The anti bblob zeal is a good idea, been requested several times if im not mistaken. Im no fan of limiting the amount of units cos that locks you down in certain build. It just limits the way you can play the game.
